World Champion Gymnast, Olympic Hopeful Simone Biles: What’s In My Bag?

Simone Biles

After Simone Biles made history on June 26 with her fourth consecutive national title, more admirers than ever are looking up to the 4-foot-9 Olympic hopeful. “Little girls will give me signs, posters or notes they write me,” the Kellogg’s-sponsored athlete tells Us Weekly. “I like to keep them because they’re cute and fun.”

Before she competes for a Team USA spot at the women’s gymnastics trials (which air on NBC, July 8 at 9 p.m. and July 10 at 8:30 p.m.), Biles, 19, who calls herself “pretty organized,” unpacks the Nike duffel bag she totes to training in Spring, Texas.

Road to Rio

“In 2014, one of my teammates got me this little key chain that says Future Olympian. I thought that was cute, so I keep it with me.”

Great Gift

Nastia [Liukin] and her parents gave me [a Louis Vuitton wallet] in appreciation for my support of their event the WOGA Classic. It was unnecessary but very sweet of them. I had a great time helping with the meet and taking some time to meet and sign autographs for the fans.”

Using Her Religion

“My mom, Nellie, got me a rosary at church. I don’t use it to pray before a competition. I’ll just pray normally to myself, but I have it there in case.”

Rhythm and Blues

“I have the basic Apple headphones, but I travel with Beats. I’m into Ariana Grande’s album now, especially ‘Into You.’ I also love G-Eazy and Chris Brown — just depends what kind of mood I’m in.”

Going Under Cover

“The weather is crazy in Houston, so I always have a cheetah-print umbrella, just in case.”

What else is inside Biles’ Nike duffel? An iPhone 6s in a black and gold striped Michael Kors case, a debit card, a United Club card, a Nike Factory Store MVP pass, car keys for her Cadillac CTS 2, an ‘S’ key chain, a black poof key chain, ChapStick, a mini pink hairbrush, a small pink comb, a Special K Red Berries to-go cereal cup, a bottle of SmartWater, a Core Power milkshake, chewing gum, a Nike jacket, hand sanitizer, a mini-sized deodorant and assorted bobby pins and hair ties.

The Rio Olympics begin August 5 and will be streamed live on NBCOlympics.com and on the NBC Sports app. The Rio Paralympics begin September 7 and will be streamed live on TeamUSA.org.
