While black dresses will always be the night-out standard, a slew of stylish stars have embraced the season's bold color trend by stepping out in vibrant blue.

"Rich shades of blue like sapphire and cobalt look modern and flatter almost every skin tone," says Us Weekly fashion director Sasha Charnin Morrison.

Demi Moore, whose rocked the electric blue hue in the past, recently wore a corseted Vivienne Westwood design, which she paired with black Casedei heels. Burlesque star Dita von Teese went for a sparkly take on the trend at Perez Hilton's birthday party in a sequined cap sleeve Jenny Packham gown. And Olivia Munn (in Notte by Marchesa) and Abbie Cornish (in Amanda Wakeley) were both snapped in draped Grecian-inspired cobalt blue dresses.

When it comes to choosing the right accessories for a bright blue dress, the key is to keep it simple, advises Morrison. "A gold clutch with matching strappy sandals and minimal jewelry will make the color pop even more."
