Cut-out dresses have become the go-to trend for celebs who want to flaunt their uber-toned obliques on the red carpet.
"The slits add a sexy update to a simple dress and can especially flatter a slim waistline," says Penny Lovell, who styles Ginnifer Goodwin, tells Us Weekly.
But recently the look has evolved from subtle slashes that show a hint of skin (think Kerry Washington, Emma Roberts and Ginnifer Goodwin at this year's Met Gala) to extreme cut-outs.
Selena Gomez, 18, who typically wears sweet and flirty dresses, sizzled at the Billboard Music Awards in a Dolce & Gabbana gown, which not only featured cut-outs around her waistline, but also a thigh-slit in the front.
