Willow Shields Works a Fierce Tribute Costume for Hunger Games-Inspired Dance on Dancing With the Stars

Move over, J.Law; Willow Shields is the new “Girl on Fire!”

The Dancing With the Stars contestant, who plays Jennifer Lawrence‘s on-screen sister in The Hunger Games series, thrilled her massive fan base on Monday, April 6, when she performed a contemporary dance inspired by the franchise. Bonus: She did it in a near-replica of Lawrence’s fierce tribute costume!

The blonde beauty, who, at 14, is the youngest DWTS contestant ever, twirled, sashayed, and jumped around the dance floor with partner Mark Ballas in a long-sleeved black unitard, complete with shoulder pads—much like Lawrence’s Mockingjay uniform in the latest installment of the blockbuster series. However, Shields did add a pleated skirt to her costume, which floated around her while she danced.

Willow Shields and her pro, Mark Ballas, work tribute costumes for their Hunger Games-inspired dance on the April 6 episode of Dancing With the Stars.

(Amusingly, Shields danced to Coldplay’s “Atlas,” which is one of the songs from the Hunger Games: Catching Fire soundtrack, but is also of note as leading lady Lawrence is dating the band’s frontman, Chris Martin.)

To complete her ensemble, Shields styled her long hair into a very Katniss-worthy pair of French braids. Before she took to the stage, she told the audience in a pre-taped segment describing her 2011 as her best year, when she landed her famous role, “Once I get on the dance floor, I am a fighter!”

Girl on Fire! On March 30, Mark Ballas danced a tango with Willow Shields, who wore a flame-covered red and black dress.

And indeed, she fought so hard, she won the top score of the night and the highest of the season: 39 out of 40! Judge Julianne Hough, who awarded Shields and Ballas one of her three 10’s of the night, said, “You definitely would have made your district proud.”

The week before, Shields’ worked a Girl on Fire-inspired look, too, when she danced a tango to Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used to Know” in a flame-licked red and black dress.
