Idol Chatter: And Then There Were Four!

We hate to say we told you so. Last night was indeed the night when Phil Stacey and Chris
Richardson sang their final notes on the Idol stage. Double eliminations are never fun, especially when the field is narrowed to such class acts and performance phenoms like Stacey and Richardson.

In what was easily Idol's most unnecessarily extended results show, viewers were treated to a fun (albeit taped) performance by pop maestro Robin Thicke, but not before former Idols (welcome back, Ruben!) offered their "messages of hope" while soliciting donations for Idol Gives Back. And here we were thinking we had seen the worst of the PSAs when President and Mrs. Bush thanked the nation with an uninspired video message on Tuesday's show.

For the night's main performance, mentors Bon Jovi took the stage for a bland performance of "(You Want to)Make a Memory" from their upcoming summer album "Lost Highway." Apparently Jon and his buddies didn't get the urgent memo we sent their way reminding them not to get shown up by a singer half their age who did more with his mouth than the Jersey boys could manage with a full live band.

In the end, it was Stacey and Richardson who sang their Bon Jovi tunes one last time. Perhaps we're simply progressing through the stages of grief better this week, but we weren't too upset at the vote. That being said, we hereby offer these words to the children of America: Start putting the Phil Stacey and Chris Richardson albums at the top of your holiday lists!

Actually, I think Chris is better-looking than Justin Timberlake. He's got a lot of "country boy" charisma. He and Phil both seem like genuinely good people, so do all the top contenders this year. But I think Melinda is the best singer and the best entertainer.

Powder...I mean Lurch..oops sorry Phil is GONE!! Hallelujah!! I have been waiting for this moment since the top 12. I can watch Idol without my hands over my eyes. That guy is so hard to look at. He sounds ok, but not good enough to make up for his hideous looks. Eww...he's gone now. Maybe my Phil nightmares can finally stop.

The results show lasts 5 mins. at my house. We just watch the last 5 mins. of the show, and skip the BS. Try it. Works for us.

I was pleased that Phil went home but i think lakeisha should have joined him, shes not very entertaining to me, i'm not sure jordan is that great but she has good stage presence
I'm rooting for blake all the way, he's my argyle eye candy, when he sang time of the season i melted

Ok so I love american idol but I hate that every year people get sent home earlier then they should and stupid people like sanjaya stick around... As for last night I think Jordin and LaKesha should have went. Phil and Chris rock... Blake is going to win hands down because it is about time a guy wins and actually does something with a album like kelly and carrie... GO BLAKE GO

I'm sooo glad Chris & Phil are GONE! Chris played up the jt wannabe thing too much...I didn't think he was that cute & come on we already have 1 justin timberlake! American Idol is looking for new stars...not a wannabe of a star we already have! And Phil just didn't sound as good as he used to! Blake is still in it!! Yay!

Also with Robin Thicke - I dont always care for his singing but the meaning behind the song makes up for it. He wrote it for his wife because he was getting really down at a point in his life because of bad reviews a few years ago and he realized that he needed the woman in his life to lift him up because she was what really mattered to him!

How sweet is that!? :) Okay I'm a romantic. :)

Pam-I'm sure you're not the only one not watching it. I watch it because I like to sing too and I like the performances and to pick a favorite (Blake). I guess it is getting old though, this is season 6. They beat these reality shows into the ground, what season is Survivor on?? I gave up The Apprentice and Idol is probably next but I love me some Blake.

10:03 - Charlette...Robin Thicke is Alan Thicke's son (the dad on Growing Pains...). Maybe someone else already answered this but I didnt read through all of the posts to check first. :)

I wasn't surprised about Phil & Chris...they were both okay but I didn't think they'd win. I still like Blake and Melinda the most. I think LaKisha is next to go...though she is good too. It gets tough this close to the end of the competition!

But at this point, if they've gotten this far - they know they'll end up making a CD and they already know they'll be on tour. So, they'll all be fine... (except maybe Sanjaya, LoL!)

Chris seems like a nice guy, but he is a Justin-wannabe. He would be perfect for something like the Backstreet boys. I don't get why everyone loves Blake. If you saw him on the street people wouldn't look twice at him.

Chris is a true gentleman and Phil was a genuinely nice guy. So sad to see both of these talented guys go. They will always be my Idols!!! I don't think I'll be watching the show anymore this season. The only reason I've been watching so far was for Chris. Best of luck to the rest of the contestants. I think Melinda deserves it more than anyone (I think she'll win anyways). Much love from VA!!!

Loved last nights show. Phil was very heartfelt and Chris was so sincere. I would buy either of their CD's in a heartbeat. I'm totally digging this season, took awhile to get into it but I'm there now. I'm a fan of everyone up there. Sad to see the 2 that left last night as they were more marketable than some of the ones left but I think they handled it with class. :) Way to go.

I was sooooo glad when these 2 got voted off!! As for Robin Thicke, his performance was alright. He's got a GREAT song with Pharrell, it's a few years old, but it's awesome. He sounds totally different.
