Christina Aguilera Seeks Acting Career

 Jarrell/WireImage.com Christina Aguilera is looking to add more drama to her life. According to the Associated Press, the 26-year-old singer told reporters on Monday that she's reading scripts in order to find the right first acting role. In Shanghai for her first mainland China concert ever, Aguilera announced at a press conference, "I am looking forward to moving into another form of what I feel is another creative outlet for me and that would be acting." She continued, "It is something that, when I attempt to do it, I want to do it right so it's important for me that I do choose the right first role for myself." Aguilera, who has managed to keep her career and personal life on track while contemporaries like Britney Spears struggle, also spoke about her next album. She told reporters it will be "completely different" from double-album Back to Basics. The first change? Length. "We're going to keep it short and sweet," she said. To be honest, that is a bad picture. I saw other pictures of that press conference with that same makeup on, and she looked absolutely radiant and gorgeous. Maybe the lighting was off in this particular shot. That happens sometimes, you know. And yes, it has been widely reported that Christina's father was physically and verbally abusive towards her and her mother, until the mother finally ran away.

I think she wears all that makeup and tanning lotion to create kind of a barrier between her and others. Children of abuse never seem to get over the vulnerability they felt as little kids, so they always put a barrier between themselves and the world. Some use a barrier of fat, in this case she uses makeup.

I think Christina Aguilera would make a fine actress. I was very impressed with her performance when she hosted SNL (remember her dead-on Kim Catrall impression in the Sex and the City skit?). Even in her videos you can see how passionately she commits to the characters she plays. She could be the pop star that proves to be a great actress as well.
