Comedy Central's Daily Show, Colbert Report to Return January 7

 Tony Barson/WireImage.com Truthiness is back. Comedy Central’s The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report will return January 7, even if the writers’ strike hasn’t ended. In a joint statement, Stewart and Stephen Colbert said: “We would like to return to work with our writers. If we cannot, we would like to express our ambivalence, but without our writers we are unable to express something as nuanced as ambivalence." Industry experts said the shows may not suffer since Stewart is a noted stand-up comedian and Colbert spent years studying improv at Chicago’s famed Second City. Still, the Writers Guild of America shot back in a terse statement Thursday: "Comedy Central forcing Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert back on the air will not give the viewers the quality shows they've come to expect.” Tell Us: Will you still watch the late-night shows without writers? I love both shows but this has cost them a long time fan. It goes to show you that standing up for liberal ideas in this country is still not in fashion. Wonder if Colbert and Stewart will speak at the GOP convention next year?

*** BOYCOTT THE DAILY SHOW AND COLBERT REPORT *** While I deeply enjoy the satire and wit of The Daily Show and Colbert Report, I am saddened and disappointed that Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert are crossing the picket lines. They are, first and foremost, excellent writers. They have multiple Emmy awards for their comedy writing skills. Instead of returning to the set, they should be returning to the negotitating table and the picket lines. We, the viewers and consumers, have power to force Sumner Redstone and the rest of the AMPTP back into good faith negotiations. If we withhould our viewership from the commercials that fund the AMPTP, then the advertisers will pressure Viacom to resolve the strike. This strike is about money, and we should use our economic clout to press for the outcome we want. ** BOYCOTT **

Two liberals acting like, dare I say it, Republicans. They can spin their stories anyway they want, but political philosophy takes a backseat to money. Can't wait for them to try to make fun of people who have "sold-out" while they cash their paychecks. Hypocrites.
