I thought Archuleta performed slightly better on the finale night, but Cook on the other hand has been consistent all season long and was way better than Archuleta and the other contestants. The only way Archuleta was going to win this coming into the finals was if he crushed cook that night and he only did slightly better not way better.

First of all, anyone putting down David Cook is just going to make Archie sad. READ THE ARTICLE. He looks up to Cook, Cook has been like a big brother for him, and if you watch interviews with them together you can totally tell. I mean, gosh, the first think Cook did once he won was hug Archie.

Archuleta and Cook both deserved it. Archuleta had amazing vocals for someone his age, while Cook had creativity and experience under his belt. Personally, I believe the right one won because Cook was all around a better musical artist. He had charisma, he could change songs and make them work, he hada good vocal range, and as a bonus, he already knows how to write his own songs. However, I wouldn't have been sad if Archie won, because he deserved it just as much. He's barely 17. Taking 2nd in a competition which over 100,000 people try out is no easy feat.

Also, to the person that said Cook sounds awful..... if he was awful then why do millions of people, including RENOWN SINGERS say that he's good? I'll admit Archie has a much better technical voice, but if you're saying Cook can't sing, yet people like Mariah Carey, Lionel Richie, and even the current PHANTOM OF THE OPERA ON BROADWAY said that he was great, then something's wrong.

I am ashamed that Cook's Cougars are supposedly the reason he won. They probably have kids his age! They should be backing David A. who possesses the traits we should like to see in all 17 year olds & that is not just talent but humility, appreciation, respect & acceptance for whatever life deals him. He is more mature than the Cougars! If people want to dog his dad why don't they dog the "Mothers?" who voted against him. I now doubt the credibility of the show. I know that AI has given David A. an opportunity beyond befief. There is a proper way to critique! I know it is just a show, but people tend to follow & it appears this country has more followers than leaders. David A. you are a leader. Stay your path and yourself young man!!!!

and dont go hating on da's father.he has done nothing to any of you so much more to david a. all he ever wanted was for his son to deliver great music and for everbody to hear it.

I've watched every season of Idol and have to say that out of ALL of the contestants, Archuleta and Cook have been the most impressive. Yes, they're both very talented but their personalities and the way they treated each other was very nice to see. We need more people on this earth like these two gentleman. They are both winners in my eyes, and brought alot of class to the show.

through David Cook's last three performances and was in
in total shock when he won. Living in Canada I can't
say much for America's taste. Please David Archuleta
make your albums soon because I will be lining up to buy
them. Head up! You are awesome!

I agree with DAisourfavorite. Don't get me wrong, Cook was good. But Archuletta represented what an American Idol should be. He had a great peronality, great voice, and he truly appreciated it all. I hope he makes it big. he truly deserves it.

I'm glad David Archuleta is ok about coming in 2nd place on AI, what a good sport, and that he looks up to David Cook as his big brother, also, I'm glad Archuleta's dad, Jeff, is happy with his son's second place finish, etc.

Anyone that actualy likes David Cook cant hear right. His voice is awful and he has an almost down syndrome look going for him. Its kind of better that Artuletta did not win because anyone that wins gets sucked into that horrible idol contract. Im sure we will se more of Artulletta this way. So good job for winning David cook. Now I never have to look at or hear your horrible voice again.

It's Thursday afternoon and I still can't believe the David Archuleta didn't win this thing. Big mistake.

I think both David's are very talented young men. It was wonderful to watch how much they care about each other and praise each other. I do believe, however, that Simon Cowell is one shrewd guy. He stated on the Tonight Show that he wanted David Cook to win, then he blasted David Cook at the finals. After years of watching A.I. it seems that Simon does this to help the person he wants to win. People tend to vote for the person Simon is the meanest to. Yes, David Cook is deserving and seems like a wonderful person. However, David Archuletta is amazing! I believe he should have won...of course, I thought Clay Aiken should have won, too. At 17 years old he has a great future ahead of him. It is too bad that the judges and producers of A.I. punish a young man for the behavior of his father. It isn't his fault! David Cook is a better onstage performer because he has more experience. However, David Archuleta is a better singer. Experience will make him a better stage performer also. Either way, they are both wonderful. Michael Johns is awesome, too. I would have liked to see him go farther. I will definately buy a c.d. of his.

David Cook deserved to win. He took risks that no other singer in the competition did and they payed off well. Archuleta has a good voice and sang his tail off Tuesday but overall Cook was more deserving, in my opinion. SO PROUD OF YOU DAVID COOK!!!
