The words "spin-off" tend to make our stomachs turn (Joey, anyone?), but next season, Heroes is looking to change all that. Show creator, Tim Kring, gave Entertainment Weekly a few tidbits about the upcoming Origins, and happily, it looks like he just may have a hit on his hands. Check out the details and decide for yourself:

- Kring tells EW that the six-episode series will have a Twilight Zone feel, featuring: "cautionary tales about fantastic characters."

- While there might be a few cameo appearances from heroes we've met before, Origins will reportedly exist outside its mother-show's mythology, making it open to new viewers.

- The characters introduced in Origins can be voted onto Heroes. "We like to think of it as the farm team," says Kring.

- Heroes don't always have to save the world: "Powers are fun!" Kring explains to the mag. "The first episode won't be a particularly dour version of the show."

- While we don't know who will star in the show yet, Kring tells EW that he's hoping some fans in Hollywood (actors, directors, writers) will come and "play with us for 10 days or so."
