I understand the freedom of speech. But at the time, Natalie would have been better off to have remained quiet. There is a time to speak and a time to listen. Our country was in the mist of uproar and the 911 ordeal. We were open and bleeding. We needed to stand firm and support our government and our service men for defending our country, as well as their very right to speak the way they did. I at the time enjoyed the Dixie Chick music. But after she continued to say the bad things about our government and the President, well I felt if she did not like it here then she should move out. It put a bitter taste in my mouth. So I threw out all of my CD's by them and I will never own another. This is America, we needed to be supportive during that time. She could have stated her opinion without vinegar mixed in it and I think it would have been received with a lot less negativity.

I have been in love with the Dixie Chicks eversince Landslide came out. They use to play that song about 3 or 4 times an hour on the radio. And that wasn't enough. Can't Get Enough Of Your Love Baby. I love that song to death. I like the way you sing that song Traveling Soldier too. Your voice is so beautiful Natalie.
But you know what Natalie, it is really hard to be successful in a World of jealous people. And what makes it so bad, they just love to see the softness of a Womans voice begging for mercy. Instead of a Man.What is it, the heaviness of a Man's voice hurts their ear drums or something? And he don't take no infractions against them. After all the s--!! they be saying.And way before the Dixie Chicks even opened their mouth. Then no soon as he went to War w/ Iraq, and everybody started making remarks about Bush,his approval rating went down into the 40's and 50's. Then the only one he wants to blame for it is the Dixie Chicks, and it isn't fair.
They did the same thing to Jane Fonda, during the Vietnam War. All the people tv stars and music celebrities that were complaining. And the first one they go after is a Woman. Thats not only Sezual Descrimination, but it Cowardness and jealousy. And Rumsfield was the main one taking all these infractions against the Dixie Chicks.
Thats why we've got an ignorant Military, who has no respect for Women and Children. Where they are more than happy to be over in Iraq so they can take advantage of them.
I have no respect for Bush or any of his staff.

Long live the Dixie Chicks, and congratulations to Martie and her hubby! As the mother of three daughters, I can really empathise and when they get a little older, I can sympathise. Girls are tough, but they are so worth it. And George Bush is a national disgrace, that honor doesn't just belong to Texas. Countdown to 2009, and here's hoping that our country sees better days. Natalie calls 'em as she sees 'em, and she could see what an idiot Bush is and was honest enough to admit it.

This crap about the comment that they made about Bush is crazy - that happened a long time ago. This article is about a happy occasion and did not say anything about that incident. People need to move on and get a life! Their music is much more memorable than a comment that was made so long ago.

4:19 - What rock are you living under? We all have freedom of speech? That's what this whole Dixie Chicks "controversy" was about. They said what they felt, and people tried to hang them for it. They actually received death threats. When you call your president or country out for doing something you think is wrong, and everyone says stupid stuff like, "Leave the country if you don't like it" and targets you with death threats...........how free is speech?

Thank God for people like the Dixie Chicks and others who actually have the courage to speak out when it's unpopular. When countries get caught up in political correctness or patriotic corectness or whatever you want to call it...the line between free speech and censorship becomes blurred. Look at all the outrage over Don Imus' comments. What he said was stupid, but how in the world did it ruin anyones lives? It's such a bunch of b.s.

Blah, blah, blah...it's always the same crap. "They shouldn't have said what they said in a foreign country." As if Nat had said it at a concert in California, nobody would care. That's just a lame excuse for all you losers to have your fake outrage party. If a country singer had said they were embarrassed that Clinton was from Arkansas back in '98, nobody would've cared.

For the record, she said she's embarrassed that bush is from the same state as they are, and that they don't support the Iraq invasion. Hmmm...a majority of Americans say that the war was a mistake, that we shouldn't have waged it. Guess Nat was right about that. She was also right about drinky. He recently set the record for lowest approval rating for a president EVER (19%). He was handed the world's favor on a silver platter after 9/11. Of course he botched it, like he has everything else in his life.

The Dixie Chicks WERE entitled to their opinion, but NOT in some other country! It just showed their lack of intelligence to say something like that about the President of the United States while abroad. It came back to bite them in their pocketbooks.

We definitely have freedom of speech in this country, but alienating your fans is just stupid.
