Dr. Phil spoke to Entertainment Tonight in an interview airing tonight.
On his recent visit with Britney:
"I want to make it very clear that I went to see Britney at the request of her family. That was private and it will stay private. I've been working with this family behind the scenes for a long time, longer than you can imagine. We decided to pay her a visit in the hospital. Getting into Cedars-Sinai is like getting into Fort Knox. I was met at the elevator by a family member then we all left at the same time, because she had been discharged."
On tabloid criticism surrounding his association with Britney:
"They are waiting for her next melt down. They want to criticize me for trying to help her? Get real. She needs less publicity, not more!"
On his message to Britney:
"You can make this okay. Your family loves you. You may not always agree with what they say, with what they do but they've loved you when you weren't lovable. Turn to the people that love you and listen. You have two children and you are the one in this world to protect them. There is no sacrifice that Lynne won't make for you and there is no sacrifice that your father won't make. They are the people that want nothing from you, and everything for you."
He visited her shortly before she was released Saturday.
He said on an ET/The Insider clip that ran on CBS' The Early Show this morning that Lynne Spears initially called him to intervene.
He said he canceled a special taping Dr. Phil Now about the pop singer beacause "the Spears situation is too intense at this time."

Britney - You'll be fine if you just let good people talk to you and do what you have to do to get those boys back. Both parents can raise happy children. You haven't gotten this far without being so smart and talented I think Dr Phil is great and I'd give him a try. He is not just there for you for the media. I've seen his honesty. Take care of yourself and believe you can be a preformer and a mother.
Ruth Everly - Just a mother of 2 grown up sons and I love them and they love me no matter what we have gone through as a family. Don't give in to all those camera people that just want to make a buck.

You are so right about Accoutability on Britney part. She sure is not being held responsible for her diva like behavior or lack of adult maturity which she has none to speak of. Maybe one day she will grow up and those around her will stop enabling her to remain like a teenager and begin to act like a REAL GROWN-UP. THANK u

While it is obvious that Britney has some emotional/mental issues that she needs to work through, I can't believe that I am reading that she "needs" her kids. I am sure that she loves them and wants the best for them even if she shows it poorly, however, every child is entitled to a safe and loving home envrionment. It's not about what the parent's need. It does not sound like Britney herself had a very nurturing home life for much of her childhood but what can we do about that now? Get her help. Don't let the cycle repeat itself. If that means the child is taken away from a parent for a period of time until they can provide that, then that is what needs to happen. Her kids "need" the mother she started out to be, and not what she is at the moment.

One thing I do have to say, is that Britney needs help. Everyone just needs to give her a break. I know it is all internally on what is going on with her, but the critisum is not helping her. Calling her an attention bleep, will have alot of affect on someone who is having a mental breakdown. Everything one person says, has an effect on the situation. She really does need help, and I have to agree with Dr. Phil. Britney needs her boys, Britney feels lost without them and like any mother feels like when their children have been taken away from them, but needs ALOT of help to get steady again. Encourage her to get better, STOP PUTTING NEGATIVE COMMENTS AND PUTTING HER DOWN, I DONT CARE IF YOU DO NOT LIKE HER...It is like a family member of your own goes through this, are you going to have a nobody put down your family? I really dont think so...We love you Britney, and please try and reach out to those who love you...You are in my prayers.

Maybe then will the mags/papparazi get the message and leave her alone and give her the privacy she really needs. Have you been asleep for the past year? Kevin Federline always sends his bodyguard to do the exchanges - it is not uncommon in cases like this to use a third party for the exchanges to avoid problems. Kevin had every right to call in his lawyer bc there is a court order - a legally binding document dictating visitation for her. Her court appointed monitor called the police to intervene when Baby Spears refused to cooperate. The boys have been in his custody since Friday morning, and hmm....no pap pics of them. Brit the psycho checked out of hotel Cedars-Sinai Saturday morning, and hmm...pic of her having lunch with a pap. If I had just lost my children (and my mind) I would have been at home trying to figure out what I needed to do in order to get them back. Oh wait...that is bc I actually want my children. Kevin Federline is not responsible for this mess - Brit is and as long as those around her convince her she has done no wrong, it will continue. I have a word for her to look up in the dictionary - Accountability. It's a big word, but I even spelled it for her.

I don't believe Britney is nearing an emotional breakdown at all. She is simply a very selfish woman who does not want her children and she is staging every minute with the paps. She can't stand not being in the spotlight every minute of every day. She doesn't fool me! Did she fool you?
