Drew Barrymore had her first drink at 9 and used cocaine by 12. By 14, she had been in rehab — twice.
Now 32 and sober, the actress is offering advice to the influx of young actresses entering rehab these days.
"If you don’t pull it together for yourself, no one else will," she says in the March issue of Vogue. "That’s coming from a person who had to try it all ... and who still loves to have a good time."
Adds Barrymore, "I do believe in ‘Work hard, play hard,’ but ‘Work hard’ always comes first, and it did even when I was wild and young.”
Barrymore is currently dating actor Justin Long.

Drew Barrymore is very right about the advice she's giving out! All the people in rehab need to get it straight or nothing good will come out of it. Hey, Drew's been through it, too. And, she turned out to be a great actress, even before her problems started.

I understood sober to mean abstaining from drink and drugs. I've seen plenty of pictures of Drew (Coachella Festival for one) with beer in hand and she's been quoted about hanging out with the girlfriends over a bottle of wine. Am I getting it wrong?

12.01 you get a freakin brain..she sure did imply that by saying "NOONE ELSE is gonna do it for you" and by remaining mum on anyone who DID help her ALONG THE WAY. How come she didn't mention one person/influence/situation that HELPED her get sober (if she even is now)...and that, had it NOT been there, might have sent her on/kept her on a worse path..it's all about me, me, me...I cured myself...NOone else is to get any merit for it other than me, me, and me...

well, for crying out loud..they ARE all sucky...take The Hills eg..it sucks so bad..I would like someone to for at once put something on TV that I'm interested in too..all I have is Letterman, and one or two other things...the rest is all sucky...and except for Britney, Gwyneth, Michelle Williams...everyone else is just so sub-par it hurts..oh well at least they make good 'case studies'..

i don't know why all of America thinks she's such a sweetheart..and i'm sure she got a lil bit of help along the way when she tried to get clean..now, of course, she's attributing all that sucess (in getting sober) to herself & forgets about the multitude of influences/help she surely got from others..typical, pple attribute the good stuff to themselves and the bad stuff to others...
