Ellen DeGeneres, Tyra Banks Win Daytime Emmy Awards

Ellen DeGeneres won the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Talk Show Host Friday night – her fourth consecutive win in the category.

DeGeneres – who attended the ceremony at Hollywood's Kodak Theatre with fiancee Portia de Rossi – was asked backstage if she would take a cue from Oprah Winfrey and step aside from future Emmy races.

"I'm not going to take my name out," she quipped. "Oprah has made so many bad choices. Look at her career."

Tyra Banks won in a new category, Outstanding Talk Show – Informative.

"I want to thank Oprah Winfrey for her inspiration," Banks said in her acceptance speech. "She is the queen and will always be the queen."

Rachael Ray's cooking show beat out The View and The Ellen DeGeneres Show for outstanding talk show.

Regis Philbin (who holds the Guinness Record for the most time spent in front of a TV camera) was presented the Lifetime Achievement Award by Jimmy Kimmel.

"What a night," Philbin said as he accepted. "Tyra Banks told me to kiss her big beautiful, and I found out that I'm older than the Guiding Light."

Cristina's Court won for Outstanding Legal/Courtroom Program.

The View's Sherri Shepherd and All My Children's Cameron Mathison co-hosted the live telecast.

Tyra sucks so much. I have tried to watch her show and she is the fakest, cheesiest host ever. I'd rather watch Jerry Springer or re-runs of Ricki Lake. SHe gets all excited and pumped up and it just doesn't do n e thing 4 me. What does she know about being fat. She's an ex supermodel. She cannot even relate to larger women.

Why should Ellen take her name out so a show that isn't that good can take the prize. her show is good and she earned that award as far as I am concerne. And if oprah were to put her name back in, Ellen would take it anyway.

I think Ellen should win as many awards as she wants to because in sports they do that too. You wouldn't ask Federer, Tiger, or Nadal to withdraw their names and let someone else win a few, would you?
Kim Delaney is such a good actress--must check out Army Wives.
Tyra Banks is OK--not a fan, though. Thought her speech was spunky, but didn't catch the "perspiration" error - sure she meant "inspiratation" but who knows? What about Regis and his speech? That man is never at a loss for words--he came overprepared on a show, that, except for Barbara Walters, seemed to be underprepared.
What was with that awkward kiss that Cameron suddenly planted on Sherri S., and then the equally awkward return kiss from Sherri?! I thought she was going to fall off her heels, but I guess her Spanx kept her upright. Please, next year, different hosts!!

Tyra is a waste of air time - I watch part of her shows sometimes and I can hardly stomach her. She can put that award under her big ass. I would rather watch Denise Richards whine about her screwed up life!!!!
