Is ’10 Cloverfield Lane’ a Sequel to Cloverfield? Watch the Trailer!

Thank goodness they got rid of the handheld camera! On Friday, January 15, Paramount Pictures released the first trailer for J.J. Abrams’ upcoming film 10 Cloverfield Lane. The footage, featuring actors John Goodman, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and John Gallagher Jr., prompted fans to speculate that Abrams and Co. had made a sequel to his 2008 disaster film Cloverfield, which he also produced.

In the clip, the currently unnamed trio are playing games and putting puzzles together in what appears to be a basement or bunker. But things aren’t all fun and games. Winstead tries to break free, running up the mysterious stairs and unlocking the door.

“No, no, don’t open that door. You’re going to get all of us killed!” Goodman shouts.

The girl can see out the door’s window, but the audience can’t, and what she sees makes her gasp in horror.

The plot synopsis for 10 Cloverfield Lane on IMDb reads: “Waking up from a car accident, a young woman finds herself in the basement of a man who says he’s saved her life from a chemical attack that has left the outside uninhabitable.”

This would make a logical sequel to the original Cloverfield film, which ends with the government nuking New York in order to rid it of an attacking monster.

Watch the trailer and tell Us what you think now! 10 Cloverfield Lane is set to hit theaters on March 11, 2016.
