“Frozen is slated for Broadway spring 2018 following a pre-Broadway engagement summer 2017 FrozenTheMusical.com,” their tweet read.

According to the press release, Frozen the musical will join Disney’s smash productions The Lion King and Aladdin on the Great White Way, but will first play out of town at a to-be-announced theater.

Golden Globe Award and two-time Tony Award nominee Alex Timbers, who was behind the Broadway show Peter and the Starcatcher, will serve as Frozen’s director, and Tony-winner Peter Darling will serve as choreographer.

The cast has yet to be announced. Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel lent their voices to the film as Princess Anna and Queen Elsa, respectively, and Menzel, for one, previously expressed interest in reprising the role in a live adaptation.

“Yes! Sure! Absolutely!” Menzel said when asked about reprising her role last April. “It was such a dream of mine to be in the Disney family and become an animated queen.”
