Keep on, keepin’ on! Adam Sandler teased the upcoming comedy sequel Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser, via Facebook on Monday, Nov. 3. The actor is working as a producer on the highly anticipated digital film — a followup to the 2001 original — alongside his former Saturday Night Live costar David Spade.
“Uh oh. Its happening. JOE DIRT 2: Beautiful Loser filming in November #dang,” Sandler, 48, wrote on his official page. He also posted a picture of the movie’s script and Spade’s infamous Joe Dirt wig.
Spade, 50, first introduced his idiotic oil weller character to audiences on the big screen 13 years ago. He was defined as a “trailer trash wig wearin’, acid wash jean lovin’, rock concert T-shirt sportin’ hero” that hopes to find his parents who abandoned him as a child. Last month, it was confirmed that the Grown Ups 2 stars were teaming up with Sony-based Crackle and Sandler’s Happy Madison production team for the project.
“David Spade had a fresh and unique vision for Joe Dirt 2 that he could have brought anywhere and we couldn’t be happier that he brought it to Crackle for a first-of-its-kind, worldwide release,” Eric Berger, Crackle GM and Sony EVP Digital Networks, told Deadline at the time. “The original film has been a longtime viewer favorite, ranking among the most viewed in our library, and we decided to produce and distribute the sequel as a feature for fans everywhere.”
Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser is currently filming in Louisiana. It’s set to release in 2015.
