It’ll be the sassiest awards show ever! When the inaugural Bravos air July 20, host Andy Cohen will recognize the Queen of Shade, Cutest Couple, Biggest Bravoholic and more. The 12 fan-voted categories even include a nod to the Watch What Happens Live star's well-known pup, with the Wacha Award for Animal Excellence.
“We looked at all the boring categories of existing award shows and said, ‘Let’s focus on what we really care about,’” Cohen, 48, tells Us Weekly.
The St. Louis native will tend to his duties from his WWHL clubhouse in NYC, with a remote performance from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ Erika Jayne in L.A. Cohen has been tight-lipped about which Bravolebrities and pop culture icons will be stopping by, but he promises, “We have a doorbell ready to go with a lot of amazing surprises!”
One certainty: Cohen will have a cocktail in hand. “Of course I will!” he says. “It’ll be whiskey.”
The Bravo Award for Jumpsuit Achievement — the evening’s most contested honor — pits Erika Girardi, Khloé Kardashian, NeNe Leakes and Kelly Ripa against each other to determine who wore it best. And while Cohen would have liked to pack in as many categories as possible, including, perhaps, a Side Ponytail Achievement award, he explains, “We had to narrow it down, and jumpsuits won the day.”
The night’s top distinction, the Giving Me Life Achievement Award, will go to none other than pop diva Mariah Carey.
“She came on Watch What Happens Live and was trending on Twitter immediately because she was giving everyone life,” Cohen says. “It seemed fitting.”
The Bravos air July 20 at 10 p.m. ET on Bravo.
