Andy Cohen Was “Basically Crying” at RHONJ Reunion, “Could Barely Look at” Teresa Giudice

Andy Cohen Was "Basically Crying" at RHONJ Reunion
Andy Cohen said he couldn't help but get emotional while talking with Teresa Giudice at the season six Real Housewives of New Jersey reunion

It’s not unusual to see tears at a Real Housewives reunion, but they’re typically coming from one of the ladies on the show. Not so at the season six Real Housewives of New Jersey reunion, though — there, it was host Andy Cohen who struggled to keep it together on camera.

Cohen, 46, revealed during an Ask Andy Q&A video on the Watch What Happens Live website on Friday, Oct. 31, that he was “basically crying” while chatting with series star Teresa Giudice at the reunion, part one of which will air on Sunday, Nov. 2. Giudice, 42, was sentenced recently to a 15-month term in prison for fraud, and Cohen couldn’t help but get emotional as they discussed what she and her family were going through.

“Teresa had just been sentenced, and it seems like it’s Teresa’s last reunion, so there was an air of real, kind of serious heaviness and emotion that was there the whole time,” he explained. “It was just different. It was emotional, and it was kind of more layered.”

He went on to say that there were times during their talk when he couldn’t look at her for fear of losing his composure. “I got really emotional at the end when I was talking to Teresa. I held it together, but I was basically kind of maybe crying,” he admitted.

“When it ended, I gave her this big hug. I could barely look at her,” he continued. “I was basically crying, and I didn’t want to cry on camera. I was upset, I was really upset.”

Asked by a fan if he planned to visit the reality star during her time behind bars — she’ll report to the Orange Is the New Black prison in January — Cohen said he wasn’t sure.

“I have no idea,” he answered honestly. “I mean, the truth is, I would like to. If it would make her happy and make her life better, then I’m [all for it].”
