Ariana Grande isn't one to kiss and tell. During an appearance on the Today show on Friday, Aug. 29, the "Bang Bang" singer dodged questions about her love life from anchor Matt Lauer, who teasingly asked if anyone — ahem, Big Sean — had captured the 21-year-old's attention.
"Oh my goodness," she replied, embarrassed. Then, attempting to deflect, she added, "Has anybody captured your attention?"
Lauer responded that he'd been married for 15 years (to wife Annette), which prompted Grande to joke, "Same! I just haven't told anybody!" Pressed for a real answer, she played coy.
"Oh my goodness. Y'all are putting me on the spot," the "Problem" hitmaker stalled, before finally saying simply, "I'm happy."
(The diva's love life took center stage this week, after she was caught holding hands with Big Sean at the MTV VMAs on Aug. 24, following weeks of rumors about a relationship between them. Both are recently single; Grande split from Jai Brooks earlier in August, while Big Sean called off his engagement to Naya Rivera in April.)
Fortunately for Lauer, the singer was more open to talking about other things, like how she dealt with going through her tumultuous teen years while in the spotlight.
"I feel like, growing up, everybody goes through the same sort of insecurities and things like that, but my family really helped me through a lot of that," she explained. "Staying close to my family and my friends, that was really the most helpful to me. It puts things in perspective. It reminds you of what's real and what's nonsense and what not to pay attention to."
