Jillian Harris and Ed Swiderski, who proposed on The Bachelorette, have called off their engagement, the new issue of Us Weekly reports.

"I love him and I'm really sad, but I have to look out for me," Harris, 29, tells Us.
Adds Swiderski, 30, "We're both kind of resetting. Jillian isn't happy and I'm definitely sad about the whole thing, but we've got to work through some things on our own if we decide to move forward."

Last August, Us exclusively revealed that Swiderski juggled two girlfriends while wooing Harris on the fifth season of the ABC show (and even slept with one after proposing to Harris, but before the finale aired).

"There's bumps on the road, and we don't always deal with them properly," Harris told Us in early June. "Our life is not always perfect."

104no one wants to work to make a relationship work anymore. They take the cowards way out and run. Please find people who want to be in a relationship and people who are mature enough to handle a relationship or just cancel the show.
oh well molly and jason made it but at the expense of hurting melissa but at least now she is married to someone else . I think the couples a lot of the time are together because of lust and not love . Guys on the show need to think with their heads and not their private parts and maybe the relationships with survive.

To Janice. Wow ! What a hurtful and unkind comment about Jillian. It made me wonder what u look like if u said that Jillian is just plain looking and not pretty. I as a man thinks she vy good looking. Beauty is both inside and ouward. She has so much inner beauty by wanting to help alot of people that u shud take and do as well to make this a better community. Try and be a better person and be so hard. Yes Ed is a putz but that is different cuz that is his behavior not his looks. Come on people, we all want to be iun good relationships and love. It doesn't always work out. @lori- They want the contestants to have girlfriends, boyfriends or some other secret so they can reveal the betrayal for a big WTF moment on the show. It just happened with Ali and that Rated R guy.
I do enjoy watching both the bachelor and bachelorette. However, I do think they need to make some changes. Also make a rule, if you are found out to have a girlfriend/boyfriend during the show, fraud charges will be brought up against them and pay a big fine. Maybe that will help keep some of the jerks off the show. As for Chris, I really like him, I think he genuinely wants the him/her to find love and happiness.

I am sorry to hear Jillian and Ed have broken up. I don't keep up with entertainment news much, so I hadn't heard of Ed's previous womanizing. It looks as though Jillian has done the wise thing, and I feel sorry for the pain it has caused. That said, I am upset to see so many people want the show canceled! I enjoy the Bachelor and Bachelorette more than any other shows. I guess that's because it's fun for me (happily married and in my 50''s) to pretend I'm 20 and in their shoes. And I think Chris Harris is a terrific host. By all accounts he's a nice family guy, and I think he handles awkward situations very well. It makes no logical sense to blame the TV show for the weaknesses and failings of the contestants.
Gee, I never thought they were really together to begin with, they sure didn't match up or make a good couple; I never liked either of them or thought either were attractive at all to begin with. She has to be one of the plainest, most unattractive, homeliest females, and he just looks like a putz. I thought it was just a front or convenience thing till someone found someone better anyway, so this is news? And WHY are they still in it? Like anyone cares? They are nobodies. Go away.
It is quite obvious that this is not a viable venue for meeting your soul mate. The odds are not in your favor, it is fantasy land. This show as well as the bachelor are for entertainment purposes only. AND>>>> JAKE IS AN ARROGANT< LYING< SOB even if Vienna is not completely geniune!

Ah man ! I was hoping this pair would make it. I do agree that they need to put a wrap on the bachelor/rette show. Everytime I'd watch it, in the back of my mind, I'd think they'll only last a month, when I used 2 think, oh, they'll last 4 ever. Not !
This is yet another reason that this franchise needs to be put out to pasture. Only Trista and Ryan have been able to beat the odds. It's hard to have true intimacy when you have to deal with a big group of men or women and you only get a little time with each one on one. Then while the show airs, you can't be seen together because people would know who was picked, so that's wasted time that should have been spent dating and really getting to know the person. Add on top of it people like Jake who clearly are in it for fame, and there seems to be more of those every year, and you've got a big mess. Cancel it!!!
