Michael Gough, best known as Bruce Wayne's loyal butler Alfred in the Tim Burton and Joel Schmaucher Batman films, has died at 94, his agent told the BBC.
"We've lost a very treasured and beloved friend and somebody who made a magnificent contribution to the world of theatre and films," the agent said.
Gough had been ill for several years and passed away at home, surrounded by family, the agent added.
In his 65-year career, the Kuala Lumpur-born actor appeared in more than 150 films and TV shows, including Robin Hood, The Serpent and the Rainbow, and Doctor Who.
In addition to his work opposite Michael Keaton in Batman and Batman Returns, Gough worked with Burton in Sleepy Hollow, The Corpse Bride, and Alice in Wonderland.
He is survived by his fourth wife, Henrietta, daughter Emma and sons Simon and Jasper.
