Musical muse! Kim Kardashian served as artistic inspiration for Bette Midler on Monday evening, March 9, when the Grammy-winning icon took the mic on the set of Jimmy Kimmel Live!
Midler, 69, caught up with host Jimmy Kimmel in support of her upcoming national tour. When she wasn’t plugging the shows, however, the celebrated actress and singer showed off her pipes in an unconventional way.
“Here to sing some of the famous tweets from a woman for whom she named one of her chickens, Miss Kim Kardashian, please welcome Bette Midler,” Kimmel began, introducing the First Wives Club star.
Standing in front of a piano, Midler put an impressive musical spin on Kardashian’s social media words of wisdom, including classic tweets like “Ugh I hate falling asleep with all my makeup on” and “I never thought I would ever say this… But I’m wearing flats today.”
While she poked a little fun at Kardashian’s Twitter presence in the segment, Midler and the reality star once bonded over social media.
In April 2013, when Kardashian, now 34, was pregnant with her first child North West, the actress (mom to daughter Sophie Von Haselberg, 28) tweeted of Kardashian’s talked-about maternity style, “I know it’s so last week, but @KimKardashian would look adorable in the maternity clothes they have just on my block!! I buy them myself!!” Kardashian retweeted Midler’s words, adding, “Let’s go shopping!”
