Bristol Palin is slamming her Dancing With the Stars costar Margaret Cho for insinuating her mom, Sarah, forced Bristol to compete on the ABC series.

Twenty-year-old Bristol took Cho to task Saturday -- via an open letter on her Facebook page -- days after the comic blogged that Sarah put her up to the show.

"Sarah supposedly blames Bristol harshly and openly…for not winning the election, and so she told Bristol she 'owed' it to her to do DWTS so that 'America would fall in love with her again' and make it possible for Sarah Palin to run in 2012..." Cho blogged Nov. 29.

Bristol's carefully-worded response?

"I will give my friend credit for creativity, and extra points for getting so many 'facts' wrong in so few sentences," she blogged. "Let me be blunt: my mom did not "force" me to go on DWTS. She did not ask me either. The show approached me."

DWTS' third-place finisher credits her parents for keeping her spirits high during her time on the dance floor.

"Anyone who watched the show could tell I performed better, and I felt better about myself, when they were in the audience," Bristol wrote. "I wanted to make them both proud, but politics had nothing to do with it. Loving my parents had everything to do with it."

In a final zinger to Cho, Bristol urged the star to develop a fuller understanding of conservative politics. If that happens, says the teen activist, Cho "would embrace us faster than k.d. lang at an Indigo Girls concert."

JAMAL ALEXANDER, do you feel everyone else on the show is looking for something other than fame and fortune? Your comment is ignorant and typical of a far left fool. And, no, I am not a conservative but leave Bristol the hell alone.

CHO IS A PIG AND I QUESTION WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD ANYONE ASK HER TO BE ON DWTS. TO SAY THAT BRISTOL DIDN'T DESERVE TO BE ON THE SHOW IS THE POT CALLING THE KETTLE BLACK. SELF-SERVING BIG-MOUTH!

weird that the show contacted her after they met up with Kate Gosslin in Alaska.

Who care if her mother made her try or she did't. The point is that she shouldn't have been there in the first place. Bristol Palin was looking for the thing that her "lover boy" (Levi Johnston) was (and still is) looking for: Fame and fortune.

Have you heard of "comedy," or "satire," Bristol? Very little of it is based on 'facts.' Lighten up. If you decide to be a public figure, you're bound to be made fun of. (& It's no longer possible to play the pity card of "I didn't choose to be here" when you decide to take $$ from DWTS.) I do hope she's not as much of a racist as her mother: http://bit.ly/9LxLQw

Bristol Palin should really keep her mouth (and her legs) shut. Let's face it, regardless of what anyone thinks of the Palins, the fact is this: Bristol is famous because she got knocked up while her mother was running for Vice President. That's it. She can't dance worth a damn, she's just as bigoted as that foul-mouthed little sister of hers, and the ONLY reason why she stayed on DWTS as long as she did was because Mama Palin kept plugging her every chance she got. Kind of hard to lose when your mother has a whole state voting for you. Nepotism, much?

It just dawned on me that Margaret Cho was on DWTS w/Bristol (totally forgot about her) I didn't give either one of these girls a vote, ever. I think Cho is just trying to boost her career with those comments. As for Bristol, she needs to concentrate on her kid before she turns into another kate, lol. When you have kids - RAISE THEM, dont pass them off to someone else! pathetic

Lots of gay people actually support Sarah Palin, I think that's what Bristol was alluding to. C'mon, 31% of gays voted Republican this year, a record amount. Moreover, if you would even bother to study Palin's record, she is NOT a bigot. She vetoed a law that would have discriminated against gay couples receiving state benefits. So please, take Bristol's advice. Study up on conservative/libertarian principles. Sarah Palin has lesbian friends that she talks to all the time. Geesh, people just enjoy hating conservatives for no good reason.

@Jeanie Yes I am giving my opinion of the Palins I don't care for them but that is my right. Have you noticed if anyone regardless of who it is comes out and gives their opinion of them and the whole family they are as being lame and out to get them. Listen I don't wish her ill but she has a lot of growing up to do. Secondly her lame gay slur is very telling of her maturity Secondly who is telling me to growup?

Bristol was not making a anti-gay slur just a obvious and cute statement about gays knowing that Cho is a pro-gay activist. Bristol probably loves k.d.lang cuz I believe her family all love country music and k.d.lang is loved by country music lovers. Bristol is NOT SLAMMING Margaret Cho ..just setting her "FRIEND" straight about her misconceptions about her family and her mother. Margaret should have just asked her friend if what she heard was true and reach out to her rather than blabbing on a blog. If I made a new friend and heard her mother was like a Mother Dearest type I would call her and see if she needed my support....but in all fairness to Margaret Cho I believe she was convinced that this is the type person Sarah Palin is and wanted to take up for her friend Bristol....It just so happened though that she is misinformed about how much that family loves and supports one another. I LOVE MARGARET CHO AND I LOVE THE PALINS !...

Cho clearly has a chip on her shoulder, a sore loser and when you're as ugly as she is you need to be nice, because nice is the only thing she has going for her, she's a loser

  • December 05, 2010 - 9:00pm Valerie Martillini

That whole family is a jerry springer train wreck. I'd never vote for someone to lead this country who was featured on a reality show.

  • December 05, 2010 - 8:41pm Karen Schwartz Vaughn

Way to go Bristol!!! She is just defending herself against pointless people like Cho! Team Palin!!!!!

  • December 05, 2010 - 8:07pm June Cleaver

If the Palin kids aren't making gay slurs then they are making gay jokes and stereotyping whenever they don't like something anyone who disagrees with them says. Embarrassed for her that she is ignorant enough to talk like this and still think she deserves to have her family in OUR white house representing ALL americans- not just bigots who pimp themselves out on reality tv shows.

  • December 05, 2010 - 8:03pm Adrienne Campbell

And there's a gay joke stereotyping gay people at the end... What in the world is wrong with these two girls that they can not respond to things that come their way without being divisive and classless about it? Starting to think they'll say dumb things b/c they like negative attention.

Bristol I think you are one hell of a young woman. I give you TONS of credit for taking all the bullS!#$ that was /is being said about you. You are truly a lovely young lady and your son will be VERY proud to call you mamma! keep up the good work honey! :0) Anna

  • December 05, 2010 - 7:08pm Joe Smith

Yeah, that was written by the family publicist so she didn't go off on another homophobic rant like she did with the kid who said her mom's show sucks -- which it does.

  • December 05, 2010 - 6:24pm Marie McAllister

Way to throw in the gay jab at the end.. Well spoken and mature do not equal that comment. Her and her sister are two peas in a pod- both bigots against gay people. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree either probably..

  • December 05, 2010 - 5:46pm Suzie Blansett

@ Shannon, Margaret started it last week by her blog, Bristol is just responding to it. I think it's sad that Margaret went on record talking about the pain she went through by being bullied and yet here she is, bullying a 20 year old. If you read both the blog and the response you would understand the whole story and not just what US quotes in this story. Margaret is basically going off of a rumor that she heard that Sarah forced Bristol to do DWTS, Bristol responds..and very well I might add. She is a very well spoken 20 year old. Props to her for standing up for herself and not letting people talk crap about her.

Another idiot giving their opinion of the Palin's. Grow up Kjersti
