Emmy-award winning writer and comedian Bryan Safi, whose podcast with Erin Gibson, Throwing Shade, airs weekly on iTunes, recently sat down with Us Weekly’s Travis Cronin to break down the ins and outs of The Bachelor. In the video, the Young and Hungry star dishes on his favorite Bachelors/Bachelorette and contestants, while giving hysterical commentary on the franchise’s most iconic scenes.
Celebrities, they’re just like Us! Regardless of their busy schedules, they still manage to keep up with America’s favorite shows— and even get starstruck! Safi, a super fan, once ran into Britt Nilsson. “I one time saw Brett in Target, and I’ve never been so starstruck in my life. She had the red lipstick on and everything and I was like ‘Oh god. Oh my god!’” He tells Us.
Safi continues with witty comments about some of the more recent Bachelors and Bachelorettes, along with their contestants. First and foremost, Safi referenced Ashley S. from Season 15 as a “Crazer.” He next breaks down The Bachelor’s decision to bring back Nilsson, as he jokingly says “I feel like the producers of The Bachelor only brought Britt back to go against Kaitlyn Bristowe because they hated her so much.” He then continues on about Nilsson, “Let’s just rub it in. And then let’s send her the dumpiest guy to go follow her, and then she has to pretend that she’s in a relationship with him for a whole season.”
And of course, sticking to the nature of his podcast, Safi began to discuss the culture and women’s rights aspect of the Bachelorette series. “It’s so amazing to me how feminist that show can be, because the men fall apart! They can’t take it,” Safi says, laughing.
