Manzo’d Without Children?! Chris Manzo gauges his parents’ reaction to the idea of one of their offspring leaving New Jersey in Manzo’d With Children’s Sunday, October 23, episode, as seen in Us Weekly’s exclusive sneak peek.
The clip shows the family out to dinner with family friend Greg Bennett, who became a fan favorite on The Real Housewives of New Jersey before moving to San Francisco in 2013.
Caroline Manzo immediately tries to trick Bennett into confessing that he misses New Jersey before reaching for his heartstrings with “How do you feel, like, about your mom?”
Despite Caroline very obviously judging Bennett for leaving his mom behind in the Garden State, Chris tells the camera, “It would be a pretty decent time to bring up the fact that moving has been on my mind,” and poses a hypothetical situation to father Albert, asking how he would respond if oldest Manzo child Albie suddenly announced that he is moving to Texas.
“When I have grandchildren, if you’re 3,000 miles away, I would have to kill you,” Albert says blankly. “Kill me now. Kill me now!” Caroline passionately agrees that she’d prefer someone die than her kids move away as they start (or, if you’re a Manzo, extend) their family.
Chris pushes further. “But what better feeling is there to finally come home after being gone for so long and knowing nothing changed?”
Albert keeps his cool and explains, “I wouldn’t say anything to prevent it, but I would be very disappointed.”
Everyone at the table is shocked by the patriarch’s use of the D-word.
“That’s a big word to use!” Chris yells.
“I don’t think ‘disappointed’ is the right word,” Lauren Manzo yells louder.
Bennett shakes his head silently, seeming traumatized by the situation.
Caroline continues the shame parade and insists that if an opportunity came up that would force her to move to L.A., her response would be “How am I going to get everybody there?” (To be clear, “everybody” includes to her three adult children and son-in-law.)
Finally, Albert takes out his hammer and nails for the coffin. “If you don’t want to be home, I would feel a little bit like we did something wrong.” Caroline echoes the thought, adding that she would think they “failed.” Yikes.
“My dad is saying pretty much the only thing that could stop me from going,” Chris tells the camera, seeming to rethink his wanderlust.
