Don't mess with the original diva!
After anonymous commenters plagued message boards mocking Chaz Bono's decision to compete on the thirteenth season of Dancing With the Stars, Cher leaped to her son's defense on Twitter Wednesday.
"Chaz is being viciously attacked on blogs and message boards about being on DWTS! This is still America right? It took guts to it," she wrote. "I support him no matter what he chooses to do. . .It took courage to do DWTS! Thank God Chaz has an unlimited supply."
The legendary singer, 65, then got angry, reminding her Twitter followers: "Mothers don't stop getting angry with stupid bigots who f--- with their children!"
Bono, 42, will be the first transgender contestant to appear on the ABC reality show, and he hopes to use the exposure to enlighten viewers about the LGBT community.
"At this point I want people to know that transgender people are just like everyone else. We're not people to be afraid of or misunderstood," Bono told Us Weekly at the cast reveal Monday. "I would love to get that message across.

Bono is paired with pro Lacey Schwimmer, 23, whose previous celebrity partners include Lance Bass, Steve-O, Mark Dacascos, Kyle Massey and Mike Catherwood. The new season of Dancing With the Stars premieres September 19 on ABC.

32Really who cares?? Thank God you still have your mom, go mom. I care, do your best or better yet do better kick_ _ _...The HandyWoman...
Go Cher, support your daughter and tell these bigoted losers off. I hope Chaz wins just to piss the haters and critics off. Nobody can't tell anybody how to live their life.
WTG Chaz and Cher! You have our support! Dont worry about the bigots and haters out there they are pretty worthless and obviously without any sense... what comes around goes around for them! Chaz you definitely have my vote!
Attaching a penis on her doesn't make her a man anymore than attaching a tail on her would make her a dog. Dress it up, lob it off, add some hair... still a woman.
@jennifer anthony.... you really can't say they are stronger and braver and more sure of themselves. we all have obstacles we have to overcome and that make us strong and brave. by saying what you did, you make it seem that because we're NOT transgendered, we could never be as brave as them, like it's some flaw we have. if they're so sure of themselves as you say, they'd love themselves for the way they were naturally born.. in this person's case.. a woman.. and embrace it. not to mention, she says she's gay yet a man. you can't have it both ways. you're either gay and into women or you're now a man and consider yourself straight. i'm all about gay and lesbian rights, but this transgendered thing just boggles my mind.
I disagree with Cher on one point. Transgendered people are NOT the same as every one else. They are stronger, braver and more sure of themselves and their needs than pretty much everyone else. Thats a pretty big difference really.
Good for Cher! I say more power to both Chaz and Lacey! It does take a strong person to go through what Chaz has, and publicly. I hope he kicks butt!
Hey Becca....some people believe that the Bible is the true & inspired word of God. That is where people get their faith. Why if you do not support transgender, are you then "small minded"?? It is called having a view point or opinion as well. it seems if you don't support what the celebrities want, you are the outsider & then a slew of negative names to be called. Let's try supporting each others right to disagree. Instead of forcing everyone to think the same way & accepting "life styles" that are beyond understanding.
Amen Peggy An...amen.....
I think we as United States citizens have other issues that need our immediate attention if we are to survive as a nation. Use your words to change the course of our troubled nation. Why waste time attacking an individual entertainment contestant with negativity. Instead, check out world news reports from non-United States stations and see what the rest of the world thinks of the United States economic issues, its weakening global strength and our failing political system. Debate these issues; have we as a nation lost our check and balance system in the United States government? Do you believe our children and grandchildren will have time for entertainment debates in the future, if we continue to slide economically or allow United States property to be sold to buyers from other countries; therefore who will own the United States in the next ten or twenty years? Consider expressing your thoughts on these types of issues. Future generations will prefer your honest focus towards productive resolution of vital life changing events, which will determine the future of the United States. Believe me no one will remember who was scheduled on any of the â??Dancing with the Starsâ?? former programs when the world we know today ceases to exist.
I'm sorry, Arianna Newcombe, but you are totally missing the point. Here you are, being rational, pragmatic and logical. That sort of thinking has NO place on these boards. The purpose of the comment section is to spew ignorant, ill-informed invective toward Chaz Bono, without regard to how he dances or whether he would help you out if you were stranded on the freeway at night. Now please get with the program and start hating. (geeez, some people just don't get it)
I didn't realize Chaz was so short! Coupled with being so morbidly obese, he'll be out of the competition really fast I'm afraid; no way he'll be able to do the rigorous physical training
Hey, I know there's this big whoop dee do about Chaz vs. the pregnant dude, but seriously . . . give me a break! Cut through the hype- there's ROOM FOR THEM BOTH!
Dear elizabeth penner Ostineet what Chaz does with his vagina or penis is none of your business - at all. I will say though that looking at that picture it's hard to decide which one is the ugliest.
I don't care what she says, this is a girl with men thoughts...she was born a female and will die a female. This person can change the appearance all she wants, she is still a woman
I think its amazing that there is a transgender person competing on the show and I probably will watch and vote. I, unlike some people like Elizabeth Penner Ostinett below actually support people having their own choice instead of strictly believing everything in the bible. More power to ya Chaz! Best of luck!!
I sure as heck will NOT be supporting Dancing with the Stars now. They didn't cast a single STAR on the show. The fact that they're glorifying a woman lying about her gender just makes it worse. Chasity Bono was born with a V-A-G-I-N-A! Not a P-E-N-I-S! No matter what she says, she cannot change what God made her. She "feels like a man and not a woman." So what? I think we all feel and act like the opposite gender at one point in time. We don't go out and get our breasts lopped off just because we scratch our butts and belch and fart. We don't take pills to make hair grow on our faces. Chasity was born CHASITY. She will die CHASITY. There is NO CHAZ! She should be proud to be a woman. No other creature can do what the woman's body can. A man can't give birth to children, only a woman can. Why wouldn't she want to be a part of something like that? So she's gay, so freaken what? She can still love women as a woman, as who she was born as. She's living a lie by living as a man.
so sad to see all those small minded people here comment about stuff they don't know anything about.you obviously never learned about sex vs. gender and transexuality. I think Chaz and Cher should be taken as role models. Cher is doing her best do make her SON happy and Chaz is standing up to who HE is. Chaz was always a man/boy, just born with the wrong "parts".
As far as I am concerned Chaz Bono is a DWTS contestant with hopes & goals.
People, let's enjoy and relax watching DWTS show and appreciate the hard work and dedication of all contestants. Being less judgemental and critical will make us all feel better. Please don't turn a TV reality show into a battlefield of critics.
