Follow your heart! Chris Soules, who proposed to Whitney Bischoff in the season 19 finale of The Bachelor, has some advice for Britt Nilsson and Kaitlyn Bristowe, the two women chosen to be the next Bachelorette: "Your heart will lead you in the right direction."
Soules told reporters the morning after he presented his now-fiancee Bischoff with a 4-carat platinum Neil Lane sparkler that he, too, was shocked at the two-Bachelorette reveal — "I was somewhat surprised they decided to go that route," he said — but thinks the women following in his footsteps will be just fine as long as they listen to their own intuition.
"Whomever does become the final Bachelorette, it's important they know what they're looking for and that they are looking forward to doing this for the purpose of finding your soulmate and a person that you're going to marry and to be there for that," he advised. "If they are there for that, your heart will lead you in the right direction and to people who are coming there looking for love."
That said, he has no idea what to tell Nilsson and Bristowe about competing with each other again. "They have a very different situation than I went into," he said. "I [have] no idea how to even give anyone advice on competing with someone to see who will be the Bachelorette."
One thing's for sure — he's happy not to be in that position anymore. "It's hard enough to be the Bachelor or the Bachelorette, and going into something where you're competing with 20 or 30 other women and now they're competing with each other … that's a tough position to be in which I don't envy," he said. "I wish the best for both of them and we'll see how it goes. It should be fun to watch. Glad it's not me!"
