He never knew what he was missing out on! Christian Slater revealed in a new interview how he unexpectedly became a huge fan of The Bachelorette.
Chatting with The Huffington Post for a Friday, October 21, Facebook Live interview, the 47-year-old actor opened up about his favorite shows to binge-watch and his newfound love for ABC’s popular dating competition.
“Well, yeah. [Binge-watching The Bachelorette] is something that my wife [Brittany Lopez] and I did,” Slater told the outlet, adding that the gateway to his fixation with the series started because of his affinity for Lifetime’s UnREAL, a scripted series about the behind-the-scenes drama of a Bachelor-esque show.
“We started watching UnREAL and then we thought, ‘Well, that’s so fun. Now we know what it’s like behind the scenes, so let’s check out the real thing,’” he recounted. “And that led to The Bachelorette and rooting for JoJo [Fletcher] and who she would pick. And it’s really kind of incredible that I am this knowledgeable about it.”
Now Slater is 100-percent part of Bachelor Nation. He told HuffPost that he is even obsessed with The Bachelor and Bachelorette’s spinoff series. “And then Bachelor In Paradise, it really, it pulls you in, you know,” the King Cobra star added, “and just when you think you’re out, they pull you back in. It’s hard.”
Though the Mr. Robot actor’s love for The Bachelorette is fairly new, this isn’t the first time he has made reality TV his guilty pleasure. In 2014, he was equally invested in Fox’s I Wanna Marry Harry.
“The one I really liked was I Wanna Marry Harry. Do you remember that one? That was like a thing they did where this guy was supposed to look like Prince Harry,” Slater said. “It was only a six-part thing, but it just made my wife and I — we were totally addicted. So insane. We live in a crazy world, ladies and gentleman! It’s crazy. Exciting times!”
