It's slime time! David Beckham and his sons, Romeo and Cruz, weren't immune from getting slimed Thursday, July 17, at the inaugural Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Sports Awards in L.A. The former soccer player and his kids, in fact, were smothered in the golden goo immediately after taking the stage.

"Please welcome Romeo and Cruz Beckham," the announcer said as the little ones presented their dad with the Legend Award. David, 39, proud to be joined onstage by his sons, grinned and held up his blimp trophy as the audience cheered—and then the trio got slimed from two different angles.

Cruz, 9, gaped in response as he shook off the golden substance, while his older brother Romeo, 11, just looked up to his dad in utter disbelief. Cruz lifted his ruined T-shirt and said something to his dad, who laughed in response. Backstage, the family—missing mom Victoria, oldest kid Brooklyn, 15, and youngest girl Harper, 3—wiped off their faces and smiled for the cameras.

In his speech, Beckham thanked fans for supporting him throughout his illustrious soccer career. "When I was young, my dream was to be a professional soccer player," he said. "If you have dreams and you believe in yourself, your dreams can come true."

Michael Strahan hosted the first ever Kids' Choice Sports Awards show, and was joined by stars and athletes alike, including Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Gabby Douglas, Pharrell Williams, Florida Georgia Line, and Kevin Durant.

The Beckhams weren't the only sliming victims at the show. Football player Larry Fitzgerald dunked his fellow NFL star Earl Thomas III in a tank filled with green slime. Unfortunately for Fitzgerald, he was dropped into it too.
