Demian Bichir: My Oscar Speech Is Ready

If the Academy calls on A Better Life star Demian Bichir to accept a trophy at Sunday's Oscars, he'll certainly be prepared.

"My speech is ready to go!" the Mexican-born star, 48, told Us Weekly Wednesday at a pre-Oscar party hosted by TheWrap.com in Beverly Hills. In the days leading up to film's biggest night, Bichir isn't worried about leaving out any bold-faced friends.

"There [are] always so many people that make part of all this, but everyone [I'd mention] knows that they deserve recognition for being around my life in the last few years," he says.

Nominated in the coveted Best Leading Actor category and set to face off against George Clooney, Jean Dujardin, Gary Oldman and Brad Pitt, newcomer Bichir admits he's just happy to be recognized by American audiences.

"I've always admired George and Brad," the actor told Us. "When I had the chance to talk to them and Gary, of course, that was really, really great. You always want to tell those guys how much you admire them."

The 84th annual Academy Awards will be handed out live Sunday at 8:30 p.m. (EST) on ABC.
