Devious Maids Preview: Carmen Threatens to Reveal Alejandro Is Gay
Devious Maids' Carmen was all too happy to keep sexy Latin pop star Alejandro's true sexuality a secret -- and advance her own singing career -- by entering into a fake marriage with him at the end of the first season of Lifetime's series. When the Eva Longoria-produced drama picks up with new episodes April 20, however, Carmen is rethinking their convenient arrangement.
During a date night with Alejandro (Matt Cedeno) to a star-studded premiere, Carmen (Roselyn Sanchez) gets cold feet about keeping up appearances as the duo pulls up to the red carpet and Alejandro steps out of their limo to pose for photos. Struggling to hold back tears as she refuses to leave the limo, Alejandro is forced to calm her -- and quickly. "I can't let the paparazzi see me," an emotional Carmen tells him in a sneak peek from the premiere episode. "If those people see me, they will know I'm not happy, and then they will talk about you."

Agitated, Alejandro -- knowing that his gay secret cannot become public -- decides to stop posing for photos and have a heart-to-heart with Carmen about their arrangement. Explaining that she does not feel respected by Alejandro or his house manager Odessa (Melinda Page Hamilton) now that her profile has been elevated, Carmen tells Alejandro he needs to change his attitude or she's done.
"If I'm going to act like your girlfriend, when I ask for a martini, Odessa should make it for me," Carmen snaps of Alejandro's house manager, who resents Carmen and believes she's up to no good. "She's been mean to me for months. She won't cook for me, do my laundry -- and I haven't said anything! I am upstairs now -- not downstairs. You shouldn't let her humiliate me. I'll handle it -- I just need to know you support me."
