Video: Watch Michael Bolton Dance "Worst Jive in 11 Seasons" on DWTS

Entertainment September 27, 2010 AT 10:43PM

Dancing With the Stars contestant Michael Bolton is in the dog house - literally.

On Monday's show, he was widely panned for his jive, which he began by crawling out of a dog house before hitting the dance floor with partner Chelsie Hightower to the tune "Hound Dog." At the end of his number, he had a dog bone in his mouth.

Baffled by his bizarre performance, judge Len Goodman sniped, "I don't think the world is ready for your interpretation of the jive .... it probably needed a pooper scooper at the end." Bruno Tonioli was harsher, scolding him, "You should take the bone and go back into the dog house. This is the worst jive in 11 seasons." That remark prompted Len to tell Bruno to be nicer with critiques. Nevertheless, Bruno gave Bolton the lowest score of the night -- a 3 -- giving him a terrible total of 12 out of 30. After his number, cohost Brooke Burke told Bolton, "I just want to hug you!"

The night's most buzzed-about contestants -- The Situation and Bristol Palin -- didn't do nearly as bad.

The Situation (real name: Mike Sorrentino) scored an 18 out of 30 for his quick step. Judge Len told him he did "better than last week," and Carrie Ann Inaba thanked him "for not doing the fist pump."

With mom Sarah Palin cheering her on in the audience, Bristol wowed the judges with her quick step, earning 22 out of 30. Judge Carrie Ann told her she reminded her of previous DWTS contestant Kelly Osbourne:"There is something so beautiful about watching you," she told her. Bristol said the decent score felt "amazing."

With Bolton ranking last, Jennifer Grey remains the frontrunner, earning the night's top score -- 24 out of 30 -- for her jive. Judge Bruno told her that her routine was "killer."

Bristol Palin does not merit Star status. Why was she on Dancing with the Stars anyway? What has she accomplished to be a star. I don't get it! She gives Dancing with the Stars a bad name. I thought it was a program for Stars and who is the best dancers not how many votes a polical party could give a dancer. This is why this program will not be on my list to watch. It is disgusting and shameful.

Does that even qualify as dancing? Looks to me like Michael mostly just walked around while his partner danced. With as many great jives as there have been on the show, this was particularly pathetic.

Saw Michael Bolton at a Promo Event back in the 90's. The man has no personality kinda like his dancing.

Bristol Palin, a star? When did being an unemployed, teenage, unwed mother, high school dropout qualify her for stardom?

  • October 02, 2010 - 1:10pm Lee Proctor

Bruno is a noted dancer and choreographer. He was spot-on with his comment. Even Len said that he didn't think people would connect with his "interpretation" of the jive. Just another way to say it STUNK. Grow up Michael...move on...even Billy Ray Cyrus was better that you....

So when did he start his dance number?

  • October 01, 2010 - 3:05pm Marcus Case

Bolton was the worst singer of the 80s. Now he is the worst dancer of this century. Can he go for the tri-fecta, and try acting in a film? Stay tuned.

I didn't realize that Bristol Palin was a Star. . . what does she do with her life? Is she in college? Does she do anythng? Just curious.

to Anthony Boyce, what dancing skills are u talking about man?? Everybody is a star, some shine better than others, this is about dancing the judge called it right.Bristol did better and she is a star at what she does, don't hate congratulate!!! my brother.

Listen, MB is a poor sport, he does'nt have any rythmn at all, a baby could do better, the dude is a MUMMY!!He needs to take dancing lessons cause any woman that seen him dance knows he does'nt have the moves to make love, checkmate!!!!!!

  • September 30, 2010 - 1:26pm Lori Corsello-Hannan

Jennifer Cloud - If you saw "dancing all over his body", it would be because he was having a seizure! The dude CANNOT dance. Just because you're hot to get into his pants (For the love of all that is holy - WHY?) does not mean the rest of us are blind and can't see how bad his dancing sucked. He owes America an apology for 2 weeks of having to sit through his zombie routines!

  • September 30, 2010 - 1:18pm Lori Corsello-Hannan

Upon further review, it finally occurred to me why Michael Bolton's dance looked so familiar: The way he shuffled around the dance floor, he looked like one of the zombie's in Dawn of the Dead. So, to recap: He can't dance, he can't sing, and he's a crybaby sore loser with a sh***y attitude.

  • September 30, 2010 - 11:59am Anthony E. Boyce

I think his dancing skills need some improvement, but he is a STAR. The net work in there judges need to define the difference between a Star and a office receptionist (PALIN). Let's get this right thanks.

WOW susan you do know this is how they get rating you know like simmon on the other show ... And whether it was good or bad [in this case not so good ] at least he had the guts to try ... oh that bruno nude thing [Just DAMN] GET A ROOM

  • September 30, 2010 - 11:04am Betty Hillis

That performance was nothing short of catastrophic! Bolton is not a dancer, nor for that matter is he a singer. Any further commentary is redundant.

  • September 30, 2010 - 10:57am Cindy LaMantia Bolin-Groves

You Go SusanMarie Senss! Tell it like it is! I agree wit you entirely. Michael Bolton was bringing the whole show down. I truly hated watching him even trying to dance. And that poor Chelsea, she at least tried to teach him but that Old Prima Donna thought he was a god and could not get kicked off anything....Bruno, Please do not apologize to that man.. You didn't do anything wrong. You are there to JUDGE and that is just what you did. None of the judges are there to Please and coddle the "STARS" the stars are there to Learn from the Professionals as well as the judges, Who, by the way, are ALSO Professionals!

  • September 30, 2010 - 10:13am Margaret Paulk

I saw Bolton lurch around the floor like Frankinstien, I didn't consider it dancing. Bruno was right in everything he said and if he makes an apology I will be very disapointed. Bruno is a real dancer, and not only can Bolton not dance I have never thought he sing either.

  • September 30, 2010 - 9:42am SusanMarie Senss

For all of you saying in reference to Bruno "You think you can move like that" I suggest you look the man up. He can Dance. He can move and believe it or not his naked body (YES! He has done nudes - he has been asked to do nudes time and again) anyway his body and his Abs would put Mike"The Situation"'s Abs to shame!!! The man is a Dancer, an Amazing dancer and the musculature of his body could have a book written about it. So before more people continue to look like morons critisizing the man maybe you should know what you are speaking of. As for Michael Bolton maybe he needs to grow up. He should never have been asked to be on the show - Michael Bolton has always acted liked a two year old Diva.Face it people he is not some Gift to the world. There is a reason he disappeared from sight. He acted like an immature idiot. Bruno is there to do a job and he did it. The so-called stars that are asked to be on the show know there will be critcism and have to find a way to deal with it. Michael Bolton should have taken the dogbone, put it back in his mouth and shut up. Not in the history of the show has another performer - not even Kate Gosselin - acted in such a menner - to go out and rally people up and cause such a scene. Michael Bolton should be ashamed of himself. Bruno has judged others just as harshly and that has not gotten people kicked off the show. Michael Bolton was kicked off because he was not good in addition and more importantly he was NOT entertaining. There are performers who were worse than he that stayed on the show because they were at least entertaining and giving the audience a show - in true to form style Bolton was an all around DUD! He set the scene for himself crawling out of a \that doghouse like well, a Dog, a greatbig, awkward, dumpy DOG! He listened to a girl that is granted a good dancer but none the less still a young girl. If she was dancing with a younger guy like "The Situation" it would have worked - trust me that boy would know how to get himself out the doghouse with style - he's had plenty of experience at it, I'm sure. But Bolton ust looked like an old fool trying to get the attention of a girl way to young for him. Face it Bolton you are old and washed up-get over it and stop slandering bruno. Bruno has nothing to apologize for but you do.

  • September 30, 2010 - 9:23am Terri DelCampo

Michael Bolton is, and always has been the most egotistical, self-important moron on the planet. His dance looked like a walk-through compared to the others. The only apology necessary is from him for wasting the judges/audiences time with that lame performance.
