Elizabeth Banks had the most radical onscreen transformation in The Hunger Games.
Playing the colorful and over-the-top Effie Trinket, the 38-year-old actress spent "three hours" in the hair and makeup chair every morning, Banks told Us Weekly at the film's L.A. premiere Monday.
"They had really great wigs and it was a really amazing process. I loved everything that they came up with," Banks said. "Every day they came up with something new -- some new eyelash or some new color or some new hat."
"I just loved watching myself disappear in the mirror every day and watching Effie appear," the actress added. "It really helped me feel like I was living in a different place in time, which is really important for this movie."
"The undergarments. . .were very constricting and oppressive," Banks (in Atelier Versace) told Us. "I wanted to make sure that Effie was constantly reminded that she is not truly free.
The Hunger Games is in theaters March 23.
