Emma Roberts' famous lineage has its perks — it did, after all, help her break into show biz at the age of nine. But thanks to a starring role in this April's Scream 4, the 20-year-old actress is poised to become a star in her own right.

"There were times when we were filming in a weird house at 2 a.m. and I'd get really spooked out," Emma recalls of filming the Wes Craven horror flick (opposite series veterans Courteney Cox, David Arquette and Neve Campbell). "But what I've always loved about the Scream films is that they'll have you terrified one moment and laughing the next."

As she transitions into more adult film roles, Emma hopes to emulate two actresses who also happen to hail from famous families.

"Gwyneth Paltrow and Kate Hudson have made names for themselves regardless of the fact that their parents were famous," she tells the April issue of ELLE magazine. "I'd like to have a career like that too."

Not that having famous relatives — Emma is Eric Roberts' daughter and Julia Roberts' niece — was always such a bad thing growing up.

"I was always running around to the makeup trailer and the wardrobe trailer, trying on clothes and letting people do my hair," she tells the mag. "I loved it."

With Scream 4 already wrapped, the in-demand starlet is already looking towards the future.

"I can still play a high school student if I want, or I can play older," Emma says. "I don't have to limit myself right now, so why should I?"
