"Amazing to have been part of Sunday Night Football — an honor," Tim McGraw's wife wrote. "I've just let everyone there know it's time to let someone else rock the open." Hill added that it was a "difficult decision" and "kinda emotional."

"Love all you guys at Sunday Night Football," the singer added. "I'll be watching!" Since 2007, Hill has performed "Waiting All Day," a reworked version of Joan Jett's "I Hate Myself for Loving You." (The opening has been parodied on Saturday Night Live, 30 Rock and South Park.) Hill followed in the footsteps of Pink, who sang the theme in 2006.

"Faith Hill is family to all of us at Sunday Night Football. For the last six seasons and two Super Bowls, her opening performance of 'Waiting All Day' set the tone for SNF and became a television staple," show producer Fred Gaudelli tells The Hollywood Reporter. "We will always be grateful for her performances and friendship. We wish Faith nothing but continued success."

Hill's replacement has yet to be revealed.
