Peter Dinklage Riffs ‘Game of Thrones’ Tagline, Warns ‘Summer Is Coming’ for ‘SNL’

Perhaps it’s time for Westeros denizens to stock up on sunscreen and beach towels. Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage has trouble sounding creepy as he channels Tyrion Lannister in the promos for his upcoming stint as Saturday Night Live host on Saturday, April 2.

The Boss actor, 46, who is set to mark his first time leading the venerable NBC sketch series, is paired with cast member Cecily Strong for the episode’s ads, released on Wednesday, March 30.

“You know what spring means?” Dinklage asks Strong, 32, in one clip. He then drops his voice low to ominously warn: “Summer is coming.”

However, his counterpart is a bit underwhelmed by the modification to the hit HBO drama’s catchphrase.

“You know, my vote is still for winter,” Strong replies. “I think winter is scarier.”

Gwen Stefani is the episode’s musical guest. She has previously appeared on SNL twice as the solo featured performer, along with two episodes in which she sang with her band No Doubt.

Saturday Night Live airs on NBC on Saturdays at 11:30 p.m. ET. Game of Thrones returns to HBO on Sunday, April 24, at 9 p.m. ET.
