"We are so happy for Gayle's opportunity of a lifetime," OWN presidents Sheri Salata and Erik Logan said in a statement excerpted by Reuters. "She'll be a fantastic host for the new morning show on CBS and we wish her?all the best. Although her show will not continue on OWN, we look forward to her joining us from time-to-time as her schedule allows."
So what can fans expect from King and Rose, 69? "What you're going to see in the morning is a program that's very different; that doesn't try to copy what's already out there; and will be a fulfilling experience for our viewers," Jeff Fager, the chairman of CBS News, said in a statement excerpted by the New York Times.

7I couldn't be more happy for Gayle...and by the way so is Oprah. Oprah called in on air the last day of the Gayle King show on OWN. Gayle expressed she has Oprah's blessing, which I'm sure sent Gayle off to her well deserved new career. Yes, Oprah has done a lot for Gayle, because they are bff. Gayle has been a great friend to Oprah, and now that Oprah has turned a new page in her life, it's time for Gayle to do the same thing. Oprah and Gayle are still bff's, and that will never change. But change is good for everyone, and besides it's an opportunity for a woman of color to add her personal touch to CBS morning news, is a good thing. Gayle will do fine, and so will Oprah which she has for the past 25 years. Way to go Gayle for landing the job on CBS, and to Oprah for giving her fans OWN>
Ya'll are so kind. Has the true story been told yet? Everyone will get their due. What's done in the dark will come out in the light. He said so. It's in the Word. So come clean or you will fall.

Ouch! Okay, so I think it's wonderful that Gayle is getting offered "other" opportunities, and it's obvious that this sort of thing happened w/ another person on Oprah's show (VanZ.) & look how that turned out? Gayle has been there for Oprah since the day Oprah started, and to me, it's obvious that if it weren't for Oprah's success, Gayle would have ZERO celebrity, the fact that Gayle is ready to jump ship for something bigger or better, it going to hurt her in every way. She's abandoning her roots, her friends, her begining, and she's looking for trouble. Gayle's also a big part of The "O" magazine, what is going to happen w/ that? I mean, if Gayle starts to work for another network, I doubt they'll want her to represent "OWN"... I don't think this is a good move for a lot of reasons. If Oprah was bankrupt, her magazine was done, she had no network, then whatever. But Oprah, she's far from done, her network/OWN, her Siruis show(s)...which again, features Gayle King too...her magazine (doing VERY well)...all the APPS from Oprah's network HARPO. I'm sorry but this is a bad game play, both w/ career & w/ her friend(s). Her loyalty is obviously NOT w/ Oprah, and the fact that after ALL that Oprah has done for her, she's willing to walk away, well... that just shows that when the chips are down, that's where your true friends are. Oprah's network isn't doing "great"...but...that doesn't mean walk away. If anything, this means to stay w/ her friend through thick & thin...until the end. @Beverly H., it's not being "stoned"...it's being loyal to the person who's given you a certain type of lifestyle, career, etc. Gayle's daughter Kerbi (SP?) even has a different life because of Oprah, again... this is something that you need to say "I owe this person a little more faith"... Gayle isn't doing that. Oprah wont ever be the person to say that Gayle's hurt her or should stay, she'll pray or meditate about it. But in the end, it is what it is, and frankly, Sheri Salata, I hope SHE gets to be in front of the camera in some way. She's shown her faith & friendship to Oprah. Maybe this is the way it has to be for Sheri to get her break & the light to shine on her in some way. In the end, Gayle is making a HUGE mistake!
Gayle King has a life and destiny of her OWN to follow and shouldn't be stoned for moving on to a new phase in her life. I love Oprah and I hope that she will support Gayle's decision and wish her the very best. Oprah does what she wants to do when she wants to and along the way she has made some blunders and Gayle was there to support and encourage. There are times and seasons for us all to experience change in our lives and I believe it's Gayle's time now. She has proven herself faithful...Best Wishes Gayle!!!
