Bidding Bluebell goodbye? Hart of Dixie creator Leila Gerstein recently took to Twitter to hint at the cancellation of the long-running CW series.

The television writer first teased the show's end last week, when she wrote of the upcoming season four finale, "The finale is FULL of fun, romance, surprises and happy resolutions for all!"

While the CW would not comment on the fate of the Rachel Bilson-starring CW series, Gerstein went on to imply that the story lines will end happily for Bilson and her costars Jaime KingWilson Bethel, Cress Williams, Scott Porter, Tim Matheson, and Kaitlyn Black, among others.

"The final three episodes of #HartofDixie begin tonight," she wrote of last Friday's "61 Candles," the fourth season's eighth episode. "Buckle up, I think you will enjoy the ride. Xo"

"No one out there loves #HOD more than me," Gerstein added. "I would have gone 17 years! But I assure you, we prepared for this… And the finale will be tremendously satisfying to all."

The lighthearted series, about a New York City doctor (Bilson) who moves to a small Alabama town, aired its season premiere in September 2011. The fourth and seemingly final season is scheduled to wrap later this month. Next week's penultimate episode is titled "End of Days," while March 27’s finale is simply "Bluebell."

Matheson, who plays Bilson's physician partner Dr. Brick Breeland, hinted at a potential Hart of Dixie series finale as well. The actor shared a photo of himself with Williams (Lavon Hayes) and Porter (George Tucker), which is captioned "One of our last scenes together, coming up on HART OF DIXIE this Friday. Scott Porter, Cress Williams, & TM."

The star added of the photo, "Raise a glass to HART OF DIXIE!!”

Porter was less sentimental, writing in a since-deleted tweet on Friday, March 13, "Folks wondering why #HartOfDixie got canned? Simple numbers game folks. Ratings still matter and dictate wins and losses. You have to WATCH."
