Video: Hear a Violin Version of an Aerosmith Classic!

Entertainment August 25, 2010 AT 12:41PM

Is the wait for Aerosmith's Steven Tyler to take the judges seat on American Idol killing you as much as it is me? I can't wait one more sec to see the Beantown bad boy's nightly outbursts next season (Will they hire a PA just to tie long strips of cloth around his Coca Cola glass? Will his sober coach be there for commercial breaks? And just how many times will he shriek when he gets all hot and bothered on classic rock cover night?). Well, I found something to pacify you in the meantime. Classical violinist David Garrett, 28, pays tribute to his rock heroes by offering up classical covers of hits by Nirvana, U2, Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, and, yes, Aerosmith on his sophomore CD, the aptly-titled Rock Symphonies.

As the Juilliard alum explains the project, "I always enjoyed when rock groups integrated orchestra into in their sound, and it elevated the music to another level. Any musician loves having the full sound of an orchestra behind them -- it's an amazing experience." To boot, he adds, "I've probably spent more hours of my life playing the violin than sleeping!"

Want a taste? Check out his cover of Aerosmith's 1975 classic, "Walk This Way," above and for more on Garrett and his stirring strings, visit www.david-garrett.com.

Very Cool. Bought Rock Symphonies as soon as it was available. Saw him in Portland and he freaking rocks!! As well as playing excellent classical music. I am going to his concert in Seattle or Portland next February. A must see!!! PS He is more gorgeous in person!

Yay! I love it when David becomes more popular and seeing his band members rock out with him. I even know their names! So glad to say I'm going to his concert again in Montclair, NJ! Last year I went in March for my first concert! BTW I met him in front of his bus! Autograph and pics, and everything! I am determined to meet him again next year in Feb! I love his music, style, and how he wants to bring people to more genres of music. David brought me to rock! ;) Love you David! BTW, I'm turning 13 in Sept!
