Mom and Dad are giving it another shot. A second How I Met Your Mother spinoff centered on a female lead is in the works, this time with a This Is Us writing team behind the script, according to Deadline.

The project, entitled How I Met Your Father, will follow a similar concept to the CBS sitcom that signed off in March 2014 after nine seasons, Deadline reports. None of the Mother characters will return, and the story will be told from a female perspective.

This Is Us writing partners Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger are working on the script. Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, who created HIMYM, will serve as executive producers for the spinoff but will not be directly involved. No cast members or a planned premiere date have been announced yet.

This is not the first time that a spinoff of the Emmy-winning series has been in the works. In 2014, CBS passed on a pilot called How I Met Your Dad that starred Greta Gerwig and included voice narration by Meg Ryan. That project was created by Saturday Night Live‘s Emily Spivey, along with Bays and Thomas.

HIMYM starred Josh Radnor, Cobie Smulders, Jason Segel, Alyson Hannigan and Neil Patrick Harris in the story of an unlucky-in-love New York City architect (Radnor) on the search for his perfect match. The show featured narration by Bob Saget.

Sitcom spinoffs have had a mixed track record over the years. The genre includes such notable flops as the Friends spinoff Joey, along with a few smash hits like Frasier (which followed the title character who had been introduced to audiences on Cheers).
