Forget the Oscars and the Grammys!
According to the Game Show Network, the next big celebrity ceremony is the first-annual Game Show Awards.
Hosted by Howie Mandel, the awards show is the first to exclusively celebrate excellence in the game show genre. Mandel -- who is nominated for Best Game Show Host for his gig at NBC's Deal Or No Deal -- will take the stage at the event, which will include appearances by such stars as Jeff Foxworthy, Carnie Wilson, Brooke Burns, Alison Sweeney and Melissa Rivers.
The two-and-a-half-hour show has already announced several winners, including the prize for Best Reality Competition Show, which went to Dancing With the Stars. To celebrate, former contestant Cloris Leachman performed a dance with some of her DWTS castmates, including her former partner Corky Ballas. The Newlywed Game won for Favorite Dating or Relationship Show, and the Brady Bunch cast -- Barry Williams, Mike Lookinland, Eve Plumb and Susan Olsen -- scored for Favorite Celebrity Team for their appearance on Trivial Pursuit: America Plays. For the Favorite Classic Game Show category, Match Game has already won.
The ceremony will also pay tribute to game show pioneers. The Price is Right host Bob Barker will be presented with a Legend Award, and Jeopardy's Alex Trebek presents an Innovator Award to Mark Goodson, a producer of game show classics. The rest of the winners -- including the Best Game Show, Favorite Celebrity Player and Favorite Game Show Catch Phrase -- will be announced on the show.
In addition to the awards, Mandel will unveil a real-life marriage proposal and Jeopardy champion Ken Jennings will face off against Spanish actress Charo. The Game Show Awards airs Saturday at 8 p.m. EST on GSN.
