Idina Menzel Finally Talks John Travolta, Adele Dazeem Incident: "He Was Really Gracious, We're Buddies"
Adele Dazeem speaks! Promoting her new Broadway play If/Then, Idina Menzel has begun making the promotional rounds -- and she's addressing the burning question on everyone's minds. A few weeks after her powerhouse Academy Awards performance of "Let It Go" was nearly overshadowed by presenter John Travolta -- who launched a billion memes when he mangled the singer-actress' name as "Adele Dazeem" -- Menzel, 42, broke her silence about the funny fracas to Billboard.
Before that infamous introduction, the Tony winner says she was "was very Zen" as she prepped to croon the Frozen anthem in front of hundreds of celebrities and millions of TV viewers. "I had all of these visuals set for myself, the meditations." But then, upon Travolta's intro? "That threw me for a minute," she admits, laughing. "But then I just got back on track and reminded myself of where I was, and what a beautiful moment it was."
How did Travolta, 60 -- who gave a public apology -- privately make up for the excruciating flub? "He was really gracious and sent this gorgeous email, and we're buddies and it's all cool," Menzel explains, adding that he also sent flowers.
"Please. I mean, I've only benefited from it!" Menzel adds. Watch her talk about AdeleDazeemGate in the video above!
