James Franco has taken on roles from his Golden Globe-nominated turn in the thriller, 127 Hours to a recurring part on the popular soap, General Hospital, but what industry really intrigues him? Porn.
In a Newsweek-hosted roundtable with other likely Oscar nominees, like Annette Bening and Nicole Kidman, the actor admitted to taking his own stab at the genre.
"I think if anybody who has made a home sex tape knows, what feels best doesn't always look best," the actor, 32 said. "I remember when I was 19 doing that, and then watching it back and thinking, oh, that looks horrible… You have a lot of respect for those actors in pornography, because they are really not just doing it, they're really selling it."
Franco's trick for nabbing a great love scene: playing make believe.
"You understand what it's like to be intimate with someone, so you just kind of let yourself go over to that situation," he said. "I don't know if I've ever had a great love scene that people would think, oh yeah, you really nailed that, so I don’t know if I'm the one to ask, but that's what I do."
Bening — who nabbed a Golden Globe for her role in The Kids Are All Right — was more blunt.
"You Photoshop another head!" she said. "Seriously. And then you fake it."
