Fifty Shades of Grey fans may be seeing a lot less than expected of leading man Jamie Dornan. The Irish hunk, 32, opened up in a new interview with The Guardian's The Observer this past weekend, spilling on the level of nudity he went for in the upcoming S&M flick.

"There were contracts in place that said that viewers wouldn't be seeing my, um… Yeah, my todger," Dornan told the newspaper, invoking a British slang word for male parts. "You want to appeal to as wide an audience as possible without grossing them out. You don't want to make something gratuitous, and ugly, and graphic."

The Fall actor stars in Fifty Shades alongside Dakota Johnson, who plays the Anastasia Steele to his Christian Grey. The two stars took the risky, talked-about roles in the adaptation of E L James' raunchy best seller after Sons of Anarchy's Charlie Hunnam backed out of the movie.

The former Calvin Klein model and Johnson, 25, will hit the big screen in February 2015 under the direction of Sam Taylor-Johnson (Nowhere Boy) in Fifty Shades, which also stars Jennifer Ehle (as Carla May Wilks), Marcia Gay Harden (as Dr. Grace Trevelyan Grey), Luke Grimes (as Elliot Grey), and Rita Ora (as Mia Grey), among others.

"Sam is a very bright woman, so there might be some suggestive elements to it, but I haven't seen it at this stage, so it is hard for me to say," Dornan told The Observer of Taylor-Johnson's direction with the sex scenes. "I'm aware of what we shot, and it wasn't as if we shot a film without any action."

Sources told Us Weekly earlier this month, however, that action is exactly what's missing from the movie. Dornan and Johnson have been filming reshoots this fall, after the moviemakers took issue with the existing footage.

"Dakota isn't coming off sexy enough," an insider told Us. "[Anastasia Steele] needs to be naive, not a dishrag."
