Joseph Gordon-Levitt has no problem laughing at himself. The Sin City: A Dame to Kill For actor, 33, reminisced about an embarrassing moment from his past with a smile on Conan on Thursday, Dec. 4.
Gordon-Levitt caught up with Conan O'Brien about his current projects, and took a moment to address just how far he's come.
The Emmy-winning actor has been appearing in movies and TV shows since he was just 7 years old, and tried his hand at a game show when he was 16, competing in a 1997 episode of Jeopardy! O'Brien surfaced a clip from the '90s installment for Thursday's show, publicizing Gordon-Levitt in all of his awkward teenage glory.
"We found this clip of you on Celebrity Jeopardy!, where I don't know how old you are here, cause it seems like it's quite a while ago," O'Brien said to Gordon-Levitt, who competed in Celebrity Jeopardy! after rising to fame with roles in 3rd Rock from the Sun, Beethoven, Angels in the Outfield, and The Juror.
"Yeah, I'm 16 in it," the star said, letting out a sigh as he spoke.
"You're 16, but I love your enthusiasm," O'Brien said, leading in to an original clip from the quiz show. As host Alex Trebek asks, "Holden Caulfield, the hero of this Salinger novel, hates movies, phonies, and his classmate Ernest Morrow," Gordon-Levitt can be heard shouting "Ooo! Ooo!"
Competing against a young Kirsten Dunst and The Nanny star Benjamin Salisbury, the young, long-haired actor playing under the name of "Joey" buzzes in and exclaims, "What is Catcher in the Rye?! I'm so excited! That's my favorite book!"
