It’s been said that when you marry someone, you marry their entire family — and that’s especially true for Kailyn Lowry, whose husband, Javi Marroquin, comes from a very large, very tight-knit group. Not having any close relatives of her own, Lowry doesn’t always know how to deal with her in-laws.
In this exclusive clip from MTV’s new episode of Teen Mom 2, airing Tuesday, March 18, Marroquin’s family confronts the reality star (mom to baby Lincoln, 4 months, and Isaac, 4, from a previous relationship) about being uncomfortable around them.
“I think I feel bad for the girls in our family, because I feel like we’re…very opinionated,” one of Marroquin’s relatives says. “It’s hard to let go, and it’s hard to let people in…I think it’s like a hard adjustment. And it’s hard to let go especially because Javi is the baby.”
That said, they want Lowry to feel welcome — and to welcome them, too. “We view you as part of our nine now,” the relative continues. “It seems like you’re not comfortable around us still to come to us and say, ‘Jenny, look, what about this?’ And then when I did give up my opinion, it was a problem.”
Lowry, for her part, insists it’s not a problem and says she just has a different idea of family. “I don’t want you guys to take it the wrong way that I always have my friends around,” she says. “To me, those [people] are my family.”
Watch the confrontation above, and tune in to Teen Mom 2 on Tuesday, March 18, on MTV.
