Better late than never, right? In a preview for the Friday, May 6, episode of Kendra on Top, Kendra Wilkinson apologizes to her former Girls Next Door costar Bridget Marquardt for once denying their friendship.
“You know, I did have — as we all did, probably — a hard time transitioning into, like, a world outside the mansion,” Wilkinson, 30, tells Marquardt, 42, in the clip above.
As fans of Girls Next Door — which aired on E! for six seasons in the mid-aughts — will recall, Wilkinson broke up with Hugh Hefner and moved out of the Playboy Mansion in 2009 so she could marry Hank Baskett that same year. After she parted ways with her Playboy family, the reality star slighted Marquardt by telling the press that the two were never friends.
“When I was saying those things, it was more about, like, trying to distance myself from the mansion as much as I could, which was the wrong thing to do,” Wilkinson admits regretfully. However, the San Diego native still maintains a longstanding feud with another Girls Next Door alum, Holly Madison.
Marquardt allows the mom of two to explain herself before voicing her disappointment in the way Wilkinson handled her exit from the world of Playboy.
“I don’t follow a lot of the press or the tabloids and that kind of stuff,” she begins, “but when I saw things like, ‘Well, we were never friends’ and ‘She’s not appreciative,’ and things like that, I’m thinking all the things that we did together — like all the time at the mansion, from all the traveling around the world….We weren’t always best friends, but we definitely had each other’s back, and I definitely consider you a friend.”
Marquardt adds, “Even after that, like [your] wedding and baby shower, and things like that, to say that we were never friends kind of like illegitimizes all of that time that we had together and all the things that we did.”
