It’s been a tough year for Kendra Wilkinson, who has had to deal with the aftermath of her husband Hank Baskett’s July 2014 alleged cheating scandal with a transgender model. But in a new sneak peek clip from her reality series Kendra on Top, the 30-year-old mother of two revealed that she’s been struggling with much more than that for a long time.
“When I was a teenager I battled some severe depression,” Wilkinson tells her therapist in the clip. “I attempted suicide a couple times. I went to a mental institution. I battled some severe depression — drugs, overdosing, slitting the wrists, all of that stuff.”
Last December, Wilkinson admitted to contemplating suicide when dealing with Baskett’s scandal while filming Kendra on Top.
“I was at a real low. I even questioned my life,” she said on the show. “If it wasn’t for [my daughter] Alijah, the bond I had with her, I feel like I would have probably ended my life. I felt like I’m not even supposed to be here.”
In the new clip, the Girls Next Door alum went on to explain during her solo interview: “[As a teen] I was left on my own. I was a young, fuming girl. All I wanted was my mom to say ‘I love you’ and ‘I’m here for you.’ I never got that.”
This isn’t the first time Wilkinson has publicly lashed out against her mother, Patti. Back in May Patti appeared on an episode of Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars, where she “objected” to Wilkinson and Baskett working out their marital problems in a wedding-themed session.
“The devil has eaten your soul!” the former Playboy model screamed at her mother at the time. “You sell us out to the tabloids! What the hell is your problem?!”
