Kim Richards Recalls Her Beverly Hills Hotel Arrest: ‘I Drank That Night, No Excuses’

Remembering a nightmare. Kim Richards looked back at her April 2015 arrest for public intoxication at the Beverly Hills Hotel during an upcoming episode of Watch What Happens Live.

“I drank that night, no excuses,” Richards, 51, told host Andy Cohen in an interview, airing on Tuesday, March 8, on Bravo. “I stopped focusing on myself. I stopped taking the time for me and going to meetings because I was taking care of other people and stopped caring for myself.”

Richards revealed that several personal issues began to build up prior to the arrest. She said her son, Chad Davis, was sick, her ex-husband Monty Brinson was battling cancer and her Real Housewives of Beverly Hills costar Lisa Rinna had accused her of abusing alcohol and drugs. (Brinson passed away at the age of 58 in January.)

Two weeks before the incident, the RHOBH alum also had a glass of wine with a girlfriend. On the night of her arrest, she had another glass — this time at her daughter Brooke’s house.

“I felt horribly guilty and I thought, ‘I need to go home,'” Richards told Cohen. “She only lives a block-and-a-half from the hotel, so I left and I realized, ‘Oh, my God. I can’t drink and drive. What have I done?’ So, I pulled into the hotel and when I pulled into the hotel I went in.”

Richards then insisted that she sit in her usual booth. “I said, ‘Please, I’m staying. I don’t want to drive. I’m scared.’ And [a staffer was] like, ‘No, if you don’t leave we are calling the police.’ And I really thought he was joking. And he called the police.”

As previously reported, Richards was arrested at 1:30 a.m. for confronting a police officer at the scene. Beverly Hills Police Department spokesman Lt. Lincoln Hoshino told Us Weekly at the time that she “was disturbing some of the other patrons” and “refused to come out of the restroom.” She was later sentenced to 52 Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, 30 days of community service and three years probation.

The former child star faced more trouble four months after her arrest. In August, she was handcuffed for allegedly shoplifting more than 100 items at a Target in L.A.’s San Fernando Valley. When Cohen asked her about the situation, she replied: “It’s a legal issue and I can’t discuss that.”
