Sometimes it's good to take a break. Kirsten Storms has revealed that her decision to take a break from the hit TV soap opera General Hospital is because she’s suffering from “skin issues.”

The 32-year-old actress took to Twitter over the Memorial Day weekend to thank fans for their support and to explain her reasons for deciding to step away from her job for a while.

"Tweeters! First, thank you for the outpouring of love & support. I appreciate all the positive messages I've received," she wrote. "Second, yes I am taking a little break from work due to some skin issues I've been having."

"My dr's say my breakouts are due to stress, but shouldn't take too long to get under control (I can say that I'm on the better end of it now)," she continued. “However, it was becoming too difficult for GH to cover up. And we all know in this biz appearance is important."

"In the meantime, I look forward to watching Molly on screen as I take the next few weeks to heal," she added. "Again—thanks for the love and you will see me again in no time!"

As Us Weekly reported previously, Daytime Confidential revealed the veteran soap star's plans to take a temporary hiatus from the show on Friday, May 27. According to the outlet, Storms, who has played Maxie Jones on the hospital soap since 2005, will be replaced by Days of Our Lives star Molly Burnett for July.

The former Disney star split from her husband of nearly three years, General Hospital costar Brandon Barash (with whom she shares a daughter Harper, 2), last month.

“We are splitting due to the cliche irreconcilable differences, but we’re splitting amicably,” Barash told Soap Opera Digest at the time. “We have every intention of remaining a family through this and co-parenting our kid and retaining a friendship in the effort of raising her in a healthy environment.”

“This was not a hasty decision; a lot of thought and therapy went into this,” Barash, 36, continued. “But we’ve decided that raising our daughter in two separate homes would be a healthier choice for all of us.”

Storms previously took time off from General Hospital in 2011, when she stepped out of her role for 10 months due to medical issues. (Jen Lilley took over her role at the time.)
